Divine Winds of Leyte is a fairly straightforward mission made up of four different parts, beginning with some AA defense against the Japanese air force first use of their kamikaze strategy. It then moves on giving you control of airplane during the last three parts. So the entire map can be played out fighting yourself with little use of the tactical map other then finding Japanese strong points to crack.

Primary Objectives

  • Protect the escort carriers from any threat.
  • Take out the airfield.
  • Take out the Shipyard
  • Sink the battleship Musashi.

Secondary Objectives

  • Destroy every gun installation.

Hidden Objectives

  • Destroy all fortresses.

Kamikaze, the coming of the divine wind

Divine winds of Leyte starts with you in control of an Atlanta-class light cruiser just as the first kamikaze has attacked and its up to you to defend the surrounding carriers. Not much need to be said about this part since anyone who gotten this far should know how to use AA guns. Most of the incoming kamikaze will come from your right(North-East) with some occasional plane/planes diving down from your front(North-West), so always keep an eye on the radar. After a few waves of kamikaze you will be given control of a dive-bomber to take out the airfield so do so.

That concludes the threat of any further kamikaze and moves on to giving you the new objective to take out 3 Shipyards producing PP's. So start this by taking out two of the shipyards to reduce the amount of PPs sent after your home away from home, your carriers, but leave the last alone for now.

Now is the time to start working on the secondary and hidden objective while taking out the occasional PP that is produced and is going after the carriers. Most of the fortified AA, bunkers and such is easy dealt with using your good ol' machine gun while the forts requires you to pound em at the very least twice with missiles to eliminate.

Once you made sure all fortified positions is gone on the tactical map, take out the remaining shipyard to advance to the last portion of this mission. This moves you to the last primary objective, to take out the big bad wolf which in this case happens to be a very big and nasty Japanese battleship named Musashi. Once you made a few torpedo runs at it and dropped a few pounds of high explosive at it, the Musashi should be on its way to its final resting place and you victorious.
