The following is a rough outline of the order of events you should complete to finish the game.
Numbers in parenthesis are coordinates given from the lower left corner of the map, counting space up, then over to the right.  So (5, 10) would be five space up, and ten spaces to the right of the lower left corner of the map.
# Collect the key from Floor 3.
;Floor 1:
# Use the key on the door by the entrance on Floor 1.
* Level up to at least level 3, and save up enough money for a Combat Spear, Scale Armor, and a Scale Shield (500 Gold altogether), before descending to Floor 2.
# Fight and defeat Ruu's Shield on Floor 4 to gain possesion of it.
* The door at (3, 0) can only be unlocked by using the Key obtained from Floor 3.
# Collect the Ship on Floor 5 in order to traverse bodies of water.

# Fight and defeat Ruu's Armor on Floor 5 to gain possesion of it.
* At (3, 17), you will find a merchant who will sell you a map. 
# Fight and defeat Ruu's Sword on Floor 6 to gain possesion of it.
* Level up to at least Level 4 before proceeding to Floor 3.
# Collect the Crown on Floor 7.

# Rescue the Princess on Floor 7.
* At (0, 15), you will find a merchant who will sell you a compass.
# Defeat the Stone Statue and collect the Mark Ring from Floor 7.
* You will find the key that opens the locked door on Floor 1 at (27, 4). 
# Return to Floor 3 with the Mark Ring and stand in the center of the shopping area to warp to Floor 8.
* If you possess the Mark Ring, you can advance to Floor 8 by proceeding to (6, 22).
# Pull the handle on one of the walls of Floor 8 to open a door elsewhere.

# Find the teleported to be warped into a room with the final boss.
* You will encounter Ruu's Shield at (29, 1).  You must fight and defeat it to gain possession of it.
# Fight and defeat the final boss to win the game.

* You will find the ship that allows you to traverse over bodies at water at (29, 0).
* You will encounter Ruu's Armor at (21, 17).  You must fight and defeat it to gain possession of it.

* You will encounter Ruu's Sword at (27, 5).  You must fight and defeat it to gain possession of it.
* At (27, 17), you will find a Druid who asks for bread and gives nothing in return. 
* The Druid at (12, 21) however can provide you with useful information.
;Floor 7:
* You will find the crown that allows you to speak safely with the princess at (22, 13).
* There is fake Princess Etna at (22, 19) who will force you into a fight. 
* The real princess is located at (29, 7), but you must possess the crown first. 
* You will always encounter a Shadow Knight at (29, 27).
* There is a Stone Statue garding a door at (15, 14).
* Beyond that door, you will find the Mark Ring by searching the ground at (17, 15).
;Floor 8:
* Pull the handle on the wall located at (7, 3) to open the door at (6, 0). 
* You can collect a Short Sword located at (3, 8).
* If you step on the location at (3, 27), you will activate a teleporter that will send you to (24, 19)
* At (26, 21), you will encounter the final boss of the game, Emperor Ruu
