Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 is the 6th game of the Need for Speed series. It serves as the debut Need for Speed title from EA Black Box, and is the first Need for Speed for the sixth generation consoles as well as the last of the Classic Era Need for Speed Games. The PS2 version is developed by EA Seattle, while the GameCube, Xbox, and PC versions was developed by EA Black Box. . It is one of the few Need for Speed games in which you can get chased by the police or you could be the police. In 2003, the game was awarded "Console Racing Game of the Year" at the 6th annual Interactive Achievemant Awards. Like Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit, police plays a major part of gameplay, and like Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed before it, it was not sold in Japan.
