Pac-Attack is a puzzle game in the vein of Columns and Dr. Mario. It was adapted from Cosmo Gang the Puzzle, an arcade game released in the previous year.

Released by Namco, it features Pac-Man in various colors, as the playing pieces, with the Ghostmonsters as obstacles.
Pac-Attack, also known as Pac-Panic in the European Union, is a puzzle game that was released by Namco Hometek (Namco's American direct-to-console division) for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and Sega Genesis in 1993 (and the Nintendo Game Boy and Sega Game Gear in 1994); it is adapted from Cosmo Gang: The Puzzle, which was released by their parent company in the previous year. Pac-Man himself takes on the role of the Balls while an infinite amount of Blinky and Sue clones take on the roles of the Jammers and Pipopapo-Tai, (Pac-Land's) Fairies take on the role of the Stars and "gold" bricks take on the role of the Containers - and it also introduced a Puzzle Mode, which had 100 levels and a password feature (much like that of the parent company's title, The Return of Ishtar). As with the game it is based on it allows scores that do not end in "0"; this makes it the eighth Namco game of this type as the parent company Namco of Japan had released Emeraldia earlier on in 1993.

The game was initially published in 1993 for the Sega Genesis and SNES. Sega Game Gear and Game Boy versions followed in 1994. The Game Boy and Game Boy Color releases also feature a Super Game Boy enhanced color palette. Although Cosmo Gang the Puzzle was released to the arcades, there was never an arcade version of Pac-Attack. The game was also known as Pac-Man: Pac-Attack and Pac-Panic.

It has been re-released on various Namco anthologies such as the Game Boy Color's Pac-Man: Special Color Edition, Pac-Man Collection, Pac-Man World 2 and the 2/Xbox/Nintendo GameCube version of Namco Museum.
