Throughout the game, Luke and Professor Layton will travel across the countryside on the Molentary Express to find the Elysian Box.
London[edit]
- Layton's Study: Professor Layton's personal office. It is packed with lots of books and scrolls. The keys to the Laytonmobile are in one of the drawers.
- Study Hallway: The hallway outside Layton's study.
- Schrader's Home: The entrance to the building where Dr. Schrader lives.
- The Doctor's Hall: The hall outside Dr. Schrader's office.
The Molentary Express[edit]
- Car 3: The car where Layton's cabin is. Flora secretly stays in the cabin next door.
- Layton's Room: The cabin where Layton resides in.
- Car 4: The car where Capone and Mitzi's cabin is.
- Car 4 Room: Capone and Mitzi's cabin.
- Car 5: The dining car of the Molentary Express.
- Kitchen: The kitchen where the food for the dining car is prepared.
- Car 6: The car where Babette's cabin is.
- Babette's Room: The cabin where Babette stays.
- Car 7: The car Granny Riddleton is travelling in.
- Granny R's Room: The cabin Granny Riddleton is staying in. Contains her signature shack.
- Observation Deck: The deck at the back of the train.
- Outside the Train: The exterior of the broken down express.
- Car 2: The secret deluxe car reserved for passengers going to Folsense.
- Deluxe Room: The cabin where Professor Layton, Luke and Flora fell asleep in.
Dropstone[edit]
- Station Platform: The platform where passengers on the Molentary Express disembark.
- Station Plaza: The plaza next to the platform. Granny Riddleton's shack relocates here.
- Carnival Street: A road lined with houses. The banner for Dropstone's anniversary carnival can be seen in the distance.
- Village Hall Hill: The entrance to the carnival. Several stalls are set up offering games.
- Tree-Lined Path: A path lined by some very old trees. Houses are seen in the distance.
- Wheat Field: A path with a view of a wide wheat field. A windmill can be seen.
- Village Hall Plaza: The plaza outside the Dropstone village hall. There is a fountain commemorating the founding of the village.
- Competition Field: The field where the Livestock Competition is held.
- Path to Farm: The path to the mayor's farm. A stall and the village shop is located here.
- Village Shop: The general store of Dropstone.
- Farm Entrance: The entrance to the farm. The mayor's estate can be seen in the distance.
- Dropstone Pond: A small pond near the farm. There is a small shack on the shore.
Folsense[edit]
- Station Plaza: The plaza directly outside the station.
- Outside the Hotel: A street with four buildings. One of them is a hotel.
- Hotel Lobby: The lush lobby of the hotel.
- Hotel Room: The luxurious room where Flora stayed throughout the latter part of the game.
- Promenade: A street with a candy stall and an antique shop.
- Antique Shop: A shop that sells a bunch of antique furniture.
- Clock Tower Plaza: A plaza surrounded by buildings, one of which has a clock tower.
- Eastern Side Street: A street with a photographer's studio and an inaccessible restaurant.
- Photo Studio: A studio owned by a photographer. The walls are lined with photos that look pristine for their age.
- Northeast Path: A junction leading to multiple other areas. An alley is guarded by a ferocious dog.
- Museum Gate: The entrance to the museum. The gate is locked when Layton initially arrived at Folsense.
- Fountain: The large fountain leading to the museum.
- Herzen Museum: The area right outside the museum.
- Museum 1st Floor: The 1st floor of the museum is filled with artifacts from the Herzen family.
- Museum 2nd Floor: The second floor of the museum contains more artifacts and a few interesting paintings.
- West Y-Road: A junction connecting other areas.
- Cabaret: A cabaret that Mr. Beluga frequents.
- Granny R.'s: A huge replica of Granny Riddleton's shack. Granny Riddleton can be found inside along with her puzzle shack.
- Western Path: A street that contains a grocery store and a watchtower. A path leads to the forest.
- Watchtower 1st Floor: The ground floor of the tower. It is filled with garlic strands and mirrors.
- Watchtower: The top of the watchtower. Herzen Castle can be seen in the distance.
- Grocery Store: Folsense's grocery store. Has a lot of garlic strands.
- Northern Folsense: The northern part of town. Tall buildings can be seen in the distance.
- Northeast Alley: The beginning of a long alley. Population is scarce here.
- Flooded Street: A broken pipe causes the street to be flooded with water.
- Garbage Heap: A huge pile of waste accumulated over the years.
- Seedy Alley: A dimly-lit alley with many abandoned buildings.
- Alley Dead End: The end of the northeast alley. Smoke rises from the chimneys of nearby buildings.
- Alley End Room: A mysterious empty room decorated with a puzzle on the wall.
- Broken Gate: The gate to the forest. Half of it has broken off.
- Fork in the Road: A y junction that leads to the Folsense mine and Herzen Castle.
- Mine Entrance: The entrance to the mine. Abandoned mine carts are scattered around.
- Mine Machine Room: A room with a lot of complex machinery.
- Mine Room: A room in the mine containing a puzzle.
- Mine Lift: The lift to the lower section of the mine. A puzzle must be solved to operate it.
- Mine Safe Room: A room that contains a safe guarding a miner's journal that reveals the secret of Folsense.
- Forest Gate: The gate to Herzen Castle. It is closed most of the time.
- Dark Forest 1: A poorly illuminated forest path.
- Dark Forest 2: Another poorly illuminated forest path. Strange mushrooms can be found along the path.
- Dark Forest 3: The bank of a huge ice lake that visitors to Herzen Castle must traverse.
- Dark Forest Exit: The exit of the dark forest. A bridge connects this area to Herzen Castle.
- Rickety Bridge: An old bridge leading to the castle. The abandoned mine below is shrouded in fog.
- Castle Gate: The ominous entrance of Herzen Castle.
Herzen Castle[edit]
- Guest Room: The room Layton and Luke stayed in. Two photos hang on the walls.
- Storage Room: The room where Layton and Luke was trapped in.
- Under the Castle: Wooden pathways connect various rooms below the castle.
- Machine Room: The room that contains boilers which powers the castle. There is a gaping hole in the floor that emits a sinister fog.
- Secret Room: A hidden room connected to the dining room.
- Dining Room: The room where residents and guests eat. There is a single long table to accommodate many guests.
- 2nd Floor Hall: A hallway leading to a big staircase.
- Great Room: A big hall at the bottom of the staircase.
