Mortal Kombat 4 is the 6th fighting installment of the Mortal Kombat series released in 1997 for the Midway Zeus Arcade Boards. Midway developed the game in 3D for the first time because the 2D Mortal Kombat games were losing to Capcom's Street Fighter II. This time, Mortal Kombat 4 were competing with Street Fighter EX. With the success of this game, it was later released in 1998 for PlayStation and Nintendo 64, which are known as one of the best ports of the game, and Microsoft Windows at the same year. The game was also released for the Game Boy Color.
The game was released to the Dreamcast as Mortal Kombat Gold.

Story[edit | edit source]
Thousands of years ago, during a war with the corrupt Elder God known as Shinnok, Raiden was responsible for the death of an entire civilization. To avoid a repeat of this event, as well as to protect all realms from Shinnok's threat, Raiden waged a brutal campaign and, at a heavy price, exiled his rival to a dark place known as the Netherealm.
