Walkthrough[edit]
When you first make it to the Cloying Odors Sanitarium, you'll meet the facility's secretary Pearl. In order to get her to open the locked door to the asylum proper, you've got to bring her gifts of escalating value, beginning with flowers. Although the case objectives say you've got to speak with Anne-Claire between each set of gifts, it's not strictly necessary.
The flowers she wants are shown in the picture on her desk: three fuchsias. Two of them can be found in the second room at the Symposium on the Future of Man, while the third is outside the cafe on the far right-hand side of Riverbrook Park Estates. Bring the bouquet back to Pearl and she'll ask for something else.
The chocolates she wants are given to you as a reward for defeating the enemies in Riverbrook Park Estates. Kill all of them and you'll collect enough to satisfy the receptionist - although you've also got to make sure to present them properly. Pick up the box beside Pearl's desk before offering her the chocolates and she'll gleefully accept.
Finally, she wants to feel like "a million dollars", which isn't an exaggeration. Head back to Riverbrook Park Estates and speak to Kurtis Swindell at the entrance, if you haven't already. He's selling a million-dollar bracelet, but unfortunately won't part with it for any less than the exorbitant asking price. Go over to the second panel of the Riverbrook Park Estates, and you'll see a man standing outside the bank - defeat him and you'll receive his bank card.
You've also got to find his three-digit access code, however - there are three separate slips of paper strewn around the Estates, each with a number on them. When you pick them up, the code appears to be 3...9...1, but the middle piece is actually upside down. With all three in your possession, go back to the bank machine and examine it, then enter the code 361. Select any of the four options presented to empty out the machine and collect $1,000,000 cash.

Bring your ill-gotten money to Kurtis Swindell's stall and buy the bracelet from him, then bring it back to Pearl. She'll then open the door to the Cloying Odor Sanitarium's darkened interior, which closes this case.
