Having seen the two Family henchmen, Layton decides to head back in time to meet Inspector Chelmey in the present. The group decides to head to back to the Clock Shop, where Luke says he can let them return to the present.
To the clock shop[edit]
Move left twice to reach Riverside Hill. Future Luke will say that the lighthouse in the middle of the Thames was built 5 years ago. Talk to Graham, who will tell you that a bird has taken something of his. Check the parrot at the top-left corner to trigger Puzzle 038. Solving the puzzle will net you the 
Parrot minigame.
Go back to Flatstone St. 2, where future Luke will reveal a shortcut to Midland Road. Enter the shortcut by going left. Talk to Silky for Puzzle 039, which will net you a 
traveller sticker. Move to the left to trigger Puzzle 040. After busting through the door and back on Midland Road, move back and enter the Abandoned Shop. Check the flower. The bee hovering around it will introduce himself as Beasly, and says that he manages all the puzzles that we might have missed. We can return whenever we want and check the flower to solve any puzzles we might have missed.
Move out and go forward. Enter Anita's Place and talk to Anita for Puzzle 041. Move forward to the Clock Shop Front. Talk to Art for Puzzle 043. Check the door to have future Luke teach you the secret door knock. Now that the Clock Shop is unlocked, go inside. Move to the back room and talk to Cogg, who will explain about the wormhole and the time machine.
It turns out that the giant clock has been there for almost a century. One day, two Family goons barged into Cogg's shop and threw Cogg out. Their leader mentioned to activate the clock at the exact moment. A loud whirring sound was the last thing Cogg heard. Later, Cogg found out that the Family was building a time machine, and a mishap caused a wormhole of time to appear near the giant clock. The Family has been pestering him ever since, as he and Spring are the only people who can open the wormhole.
You must have solved 30 puzzles before Cogg will let you return to the present. Talk to him once you had, and Cogg will transfer Layton and present Luke back 10 years.
Present day[edit]
Exit the Clock Shop into the streets, and talk to Stachen for Puzzle 044, which will net you a 
tea sticker. Move back to Midland Road and talk to Vito for Puzzle 045. Move back and talk to Florence for Puzzle 046, which will net you the 
woman sticker. Check the bus stop and select 
Gressenheller U as your destination. On the way there, Professor Layton will give Luke a review of the story so far. He intends to drop by at his office for a while before going to meet Inspector Chelmey.
