The world known as "Time of Legends"

The timeless age of Legends[edit]

This "age" is actually in another dimension, a universe separated from the Earth and from Sosaria/Britannia.

Using the airplane, the Stranger can easily bypass all the enemies that wander between the Time Gates and Minax's castle. If the Stranger lands north from the castle, the enemies around it will run after her. When they get near, launch the airplane again to either the south-east or the south-west, and let the monsters follow you there.

At this point, you can fly to the entrance of Castle Shadowguard, and Minax's minions have no chance to get you.

Shadowguard Castle[edit]

Map of Shadowguard castle

In the castle there are several daemons and balrons that will attack you. With the help of some strange coins, you can "trap" them in some rooms where they cannot reach you, i.e. the apothecary or the torture chamber. After that, you have to make sure you don't walk in straight south of the exit of these two locations.

As in every other location of the game, there are four talking characters. Minax is in the north-east chamber.

Character Location Line
Ultima2 npc merchant.png Homer the salesman South-east, morgue Flavor text: "Do you want some life insurance?"
Ultima2 class4 thief.png David Alpert North-west, locked prison cell Flavor text: "I have done a bad thing."
Ultima2 enemy 01orc.png A she-creature North-west, locked prison cell Flavor text: "Take me, I am yours!"
Ultima2 enemy 07minax.png Minax North-east chamber "A coward dies a thousand deaths, a hero only one. Either way, you lose!!!"

BOSS: Minax and her Balrons[edit]

The room of the final boss

Minax is in the north-east room, together with two Balrons. When you approach, she will attack with magic missiles. Get close to her, hit her hard, and she will teleport away.

One of the two balrons is invincible: use a strange coin to keep the distance, then trap it in either the apothecary or the torture chamber (as explained in the previous section).

Minax teleported herself to the chamber in the south-west corner of the castle. Get there, hit her again, and she will teleport back in the first chamber. Every time you hit her, she will teleport to the other chamber. On the way between the two, make sure you walk north of the rooms where you trapped her daemons and balrons.

After suffering a few hits, Minax will be defeated. Enjoy the ending sequence.

Ending[edit]

The ending of most versions invites you to continue your adventures and play Ultima III: Exodus.

Not so the ending in the original port, that suggest another Apple II game. Also, the ending in the C64 suggest the first game in the King's Quest series.
