This is a team match usually played on a mirrored map (i.e., both sides of the map are identical and joined in the middle). Each team has a base area, which consists of a flag base with the flag sticking out of the base at the start of the game.
Teammates cooperate with each other while fighting the members of the other team, defending their own flag, and attempting to steal their opponent's flag.
Flags may be picked up by opposing team members by running over them, either while they are stuck in the base area, or while lying on the ground after being dropped. Once a flag is picked up, it sticks out of the players backpack and is now being carried by that player. Players carrying a flag may move and shoot normally, although they cannot use the translocator without dropping the flag.
A flag is dropped either when a flag carrier is killed, or when a flag carrier uses their translocator. A dropped flag will stay where it lies indefinitely until either an enemy runs over it to pick it up again, or a team member of the same color runs over it, instantaneously transporting it back to its base.
A team instantly wins the match when they score enough points to match the winning score determined by the match settings. In the default campaign, this is typically an odd number such as 3 or 5.
There is also a timer for CTF games, and when it runs out the team that has the most points wins the match. In case of a tie, overtime occurs and the next score wins the match.
A team scores when one of their players carries the enemy flag over their own flag while their own flag is stuck in its base. When a player scores, their team gets a point, and the enemy flag is instantly transported back to its base.
A player who score three times in the same match will trigger the hat trick audio reward.
