(better strategy, making the hardest room seem so simple, may need cleanup)

This will undoubtedly be one of the more frustrating rooms of the Palace.  When you enter the room, the blocks are arranged such that you can't proceed due to the blue fence blocks.  Obviously, you must trigger the Crystal Switch in the upper left corner to lower them.  A Boomerang throw will suffice.  Once the blue fence blocks are lowered, the blocks can be pushed and manipulated to provide you with access to the upper right corner of the room.  Take care to remove the Pometto turtle before proceeding.  Once you defeat it, you'll notice that you can't proceed thanks to the one orange fence block blocking your way.  You must find a way to trigger the Crystal Switch so that you are north of the blue block when the switch is triggered. The only possible way to do this, thanks to the position of the switch, is to stand south of the switch, and as quickly as you possibly can; drop a bomb, pick it up, throw it over the conveyor belt so that it lands in the section below the switch, and immediately run back to the blue blocks.  If you do this fast enough, it is quite possible to end up just above the blue blocks when the bomb explodes.  You'll need to find the point just south enough of the switch where throwing the bomb will result in it clearing the conveyor, and not ending up with the bomb being dragged away by the belt.  If you succeed in this difficult task, the way to the door above will be open to you.

To do this, stand where Link is in the diagram to the right and use the Cane of Somaria to create a block, when you get past the blue fence block, then use the Cane again, the block will explode, the gate blocks will change and you can easily get through.

[[Image:ALttP_P4S_Blue_Switch.png|frame|left|Another Crystal Switch test.]]
If you have already experienced the Crystal Switch test for the Red Sword, then this test will seem like a breeze.  Most of the puzzle in this room is obscured by the upper level of this room.  There is a blue fence block that starts out raised when you enter, and it keeps the blue fireball in place on the right side of the lower level.  Hitting the Crystal Switch with a Boomerang lowers that block so that the fireball can proceed, but it raises the orange fence block which prevents you from exiting.  Just as before, you'll need to toss a bomb over to the switch, and quickly make your way past the lowered blue block before it raises again.  The good news here is that time sort of freezes whenever Link traverses a ladder from one level to another, so the trip down the ladder won't cost you in your race against the bomb.  You should have plenty of time to make it to the left of the hidden blue fence block before it goes back up, and you will be on your way past the lowered orange fence block to the door beyond.
