This section is a guide to finding the maps in Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland as well as all the landmarks.
Before you can begin mapping the various landmarks on an island, you'll need to find its map. On Hometown Prairie, it is given to you by the Town Map-Seller. On all other islands, you'll have to find the Look-What-I-Found Kid. He can usually be found on the same screen as the landing spot and otherwise at least very nearby. Sometimes he is hiding or in disguise, making it a bit of a challenge to find him. Once you've found him, you'll have to buy the map from him for the price he's asking. There is no haggling involved in these trades. Once you have the map, you can begin searching for landmarks to draw on it. A landmark can be located on land or in the water. Sometimes it is somewhat hidden, like Fish Head, and a minor task has to be fulfilled first before it becomes visible. Other times, you might not realize something is a landmark. The best things to keep in mind when searching for them yourself:
- If it is an object or structure not on the map, it's very likely a landmark.
- Check the other landmarks you've already found. Chances are best that the missing landmarks are in an area where you haven't found landmarks yet.
Mapping is done by opening your map (Rucksack -> Map) and drawing a circle roughly the relative size of the landmark on the right spot on the map. Tingle's position is usually your best guide to find the right location on the map. There are four possibilities when attempting to draw a landmark.
- Nothing happens: The DS did not register the circle as a circle.
- The circle turns blue acompanied by a "negative" sound: The circle was drawn well, but there is no landmark on that location.
- The circle turns red accompanied by a "positive" sound, but nothing happens: The circle was drawn well, there is a landmark there, but you need to be a bit more precise in either size, position or both.
- The circle turns red accompanied by a "positive" sound and the message "Mapping successful" appears: Everything went right and the landmark is now displayed on the map.
