Block the road with the tank and use the artillery / mech gun to attack. It’s a good plan to move the artillery / mech gun in tandem with the tank to support it. Don’t allow the tank and the artillery / mech gun to become separated.

This is another mini-tutorial battle, with the first taste in the use of indirect units and the explanation of ammo, fuel & terrain advantages.

To start off with, use the tank to attack the infantry unit. Your tank is out of ammo so it can only use its secondary weapon, a machine gun. But tanks use their machine guns anyway on infantry type units regardless of ammo so it still pretty effective. Next move the artillery / mech gun onto the forest so it’s on prefect position to attack next turn. Finally move your infantry unit onto the mountain to attack the enemy’s infantry unit, which should be destroyed now so your infantry unit levels up.

In the next turn, your enemy will move their 8 HP recon unit to attack your infantry but can’t kill it. During the start of your next turn, you will need to move your infantry unit to the ruins in the middle of the mountains. A cut scene will take place.

After the cut scene, it’s time to get back to the fight. Fire your artillery / mech gun at the top recon, destroying it, and use the tank to attack the bottom recon, the one that’s next to your tank. During your next turn, your enemy tank rolls along closer – and unlike yours it’s loaded with ammo so better attack with your artillery / mech gun (leaving it with just 1HP). Again, use the tank to attack the recon (the only one left now).

Now the enemy tank drive right next to yours isn’t that convenient - time to destroy it with your tank. In some cases, it may take two turns but often you just kill it. Now use your artillery / mech gun on the motorbike. It will be a good idea to move your infantry unit to the middle mountain, the one that’s just above the ruins. During the next turn, the motorbike unit will try to kill your infantry but it helps that you’re on the mountain.

Storyline

Note: due to standardization of the guide to US version; Please can someone with the US version write the relervant events in the storyline during this chapter. The orginal unstandardization version is shown below as a example.

Spoiler

Ed or Will recovers from his ordeal and is still adjusting to the destruction around him. The atmosphere is blackened, blocking all of the sunlight from reaching the Earth’s surface. Lin / Rin explain that this is caused by ash and dust thrown up into the atmosphere by the meteor strike and could last for years or even decades. Brenner / O’Brain / Brown reminds him to ‘Never give up!’; a phrase repeated throughout the story.

Ed leaves to help search another area for survivors, of which he finds none when he is attacked by The Beast / Drakov again. Brenner takes over the battle. During the battle, Ed finds a mystery girl in the ruins of a city who has no memories but detail knowledge on the Rubinelle army. Ed saves the girl and tells her that she could come with them.

After the battle, Brenner and Lin are mystified by the girl, her survival and her detail knowledge.

Official Tactics

Block the road with the tank and use the artillery to attack. It’s a good plan to move the artillery in tandem with the tank to support it. Don’t allow the tank and the artillery to become separated.

Guide

This is another mini-tutorial battle, with the first taste in the use of indirect units and the explanation of ammo, fuel & terrain advantages.

To start off with, use the tank to attack the infantry unit. Your tank is out of ammo so it can only use its secondary weapon, a machine gun. But tanks use their machine guns anyway on infantry type units regardless of ammo so it still pretty effective. Next move the artillery onto the forest so it’s on prefect position to attack next turn.

Fire your artillery at the top recon, destroying it, and use the tank to attack the bottom recon, the one that’s next to your tank.
