Vega is a minor character in the film. His main purpose was to participate in the fighting scenes and stand with the villains in most of their group scenes. Given this and his few lines in the actual film, the Street Fighter II story isn't altered by much as he's still a claw-wielding, mask wearing, cage fighter. However, in the film he was trained by Sagat.

In the arcade game, Street Fighter: The Movie, Vega can throw his mask and claw in in battle. In the movie and games, he was played by Jay Tavare, the actor's debut film.

Story

Vega is an undefeated cage fighter and member of the Shadowloo Tong. He was supposed to battle Ryu after he and Ken tried to scam Sagat. Col. Guile and his A.N. forces stormed Sagat's hideout and arrests everybody before that match takes place.Ryu and Ken staged a jail break with Guile in order for them to get themselves, Sagat and Vega free and back to Bison, Sagat's biggest customer.

As the A.N. forces storm Bison's fortress, Vega and Sagat ambush Ryu until Ken helps and fights off Sagat. Ryu and Vega battle one one one and is defeated. In the arcade version, Vega takes over Sagat's black market operations while still competing, and winning the Street Fighter tournaments. In the console version, Vega escapes with Sagat and returns to cage fighting. He has few challengers and bets are made on how long his opponents will last.
