Since MS-DOS was discontinued in 2000, Origin Sys. was disbanded in 2004 and the copyrights of the Ultima series and the Ultima characters belong to two different owners, all of this makes Ultima 5 ''de facto'' abandonware (''remember that'' de facto'' means "in practice or actuality, but not officially established"'').
