Data East was an arcade and video game developer and publisher mostly for Japan and North America. Data East USA was the name associated with its U.S. publishing branch. The company went bankrupt in 2003 and most of its intellectual property was purchased by G-Mode. Some were kept by a company that later became comprised of former Data East staff known as Paon. The Tantei Jingūji Saburō franchise was kept by WorkJam and the Metal Max franchise was kept by Crea-Tech.
