Town of Walz[edit]

Renamed: Worus (SNES), Walse (GBA)

For more details on shops, see Walz's shops.

Once you have the dragon, fly south and slightly west from Kerwin until you see two islands connected by bridges. This is Worus. The west island has Worus Castle and the east has the town. Land nearby and enter the town first.

SilverGlasses Urn House in west corner, wade through moat to reach

Enter the inn near the entrance to rest for 20 GP. The item shop is also inside, selling exactly the same things as Kerwin. The weapon and armor shops are behind the inn. There is a new weapon, Battle Axe, but you currently do not have any jobs (other than Freelancer) that can equip it yet, so you might as well come back for it later. The armor shop has Iron type armor that replaces the Bronze armor from Carwyn. To reach the magic shop, go east starting at the entrance of the inn and follow the path. It has new spells but for Jobs you don't have yet, so come back for them later unless you have plenty of cash on hand. South of the magic shop, through a gap in the trees, there is a little girl playing with a Garula, a hint for things to come. There are stairs leading to the moat where you can talk to the frogs and access a private home on the left with treasure.

Some of the townspeople mention the king is using the Water Crystal. Exit the town, cross the bridge to the left, and enter the castle.

Walz Castle[edit]

Renamed: Worus (SNES), Walse (GBA)

Tent Barrel Storehouse.
Phoenix Down Barrel Storehouse.
490 GP Box Storehouse.

Enter the castle, but before going in to speak to the king, take a bit of time to explore the place. To the right is a double door and a stairway leading down. First go through the door which leads to the 2nd floor. From there is a stairway to the 3rd floor. Talk to the scholars here for hints on things to come; press the switch on the floor to open the secret door. Back on the 2nd floor, follow the passage on the right and take the stair down to reach the Storehouse. As you might guess, there are goodies to find here if you search. The guard here as a big hint on something that will be covered later.

Go back to the antechamber and down the stairs to the 1st floor. There are actually four ways out of this room, but some of them are dangerous, so proceed carefully. To the west is a stairway down to the dungeon. Two of the prisoners here will beg you to let them out if you talk to them; do not listen to them. In fact it's not a total disaster if you do; the one on the left gets so excited he knocks himself out, and the one on the right, who looks like a wolf, will cause an unpleasant surprise later on if he escapes. There is an urn inside his cell with nothing inside and if you go in to check the door closes behind you and you're trapped inside. Don't reset too quickly though as the door will open again after a few seconds. Back on the 1st floor, press the button on the floor to open a hidden door. This leads to the moat which is large but a dead end. The other two doors on the 1st floor, leading north and south from the east half of the room, are best left until later since they lead to tough battles.

Go back to the antechamber and up the carpeted stairs to start a cutscene. The King recognizes Reina and they greet each other. It seems that the King of Worus and the missing King Tycoon were close friends and allies. Lenna asks the king to stop using the Water crystal, but he is unwilling to stop because the crystal is too important to Walz. The king starts rationalizing his decision, but just then the earth is struck by another meteor, similar to the one that landed near Tycoon. A soldier runs in and tells the king about the meteor and the king leaves to take charge of the situation. There is nothing more to do in the castle, unless you want to snoop around in the king's bedchamber, so exit.

Walz Tower[edit]

Renamed: Worus (SNES), Walse (GBA)

One-time visit
This is a one-time visit. Make sure you've looted all the chests. For bestiary entry, you may encounter some of the mobs later, but Wyvern and Pas de Seul only show up here. Make sure you've encountered them once.

Head north, then northwest, either on foot on on your dragon. The meteor landed on a peninsula southwest of Kerwin, but there is nothing going on there at the moment. Continue to the end of the peninsula to find Worus Tower; go in to check on the crystal. You see guards lying injured on the floor and they tell you about a Garula that went berserk and attacked them. The tower is easy to navigate for the first few floors, so keep climbing until you get to the 4th floor.

Silk robe Chest Left side of 5th floor, reach by climbing pillar from floor below.
Maiden's Kiss Chest Right side of 5th floor.
SilvrArmBand Chest Left side of 9th floor.
Ether Chest Right side of 9th floor.

The party finds the king on the ground in the same condition as the guards. Before going up the stairs, note the vine covered pillar on the left. You can climb up these to reach places you cannot otherwise. In this case climb to get treasure and drop back down. On the 5th floor is more treasure and a save point, in this case, depending on how much fighting you were doing getting here, you may want to use a Tent. Continue up.

The eighth floor appears to be a dead end, but has three climbable vines. The center has nothing, but both the other lead to treasure. Do the left first since you continue on via the right.

Step forward into the Water Crystal chamber to start a cutscene. You see a soldier trying to prevent the berserk Garula from approaching the crystal. But the Garula knocks the soldier down and turns on you; a battle begins.

Garula
Boss level: 3, Recommended party level: 11
HP: 1200, Weaknesses: None, Nullifies: None, Absorbs: None
Gold: 0, ABP: 5, Drops: Potion
Description/Strategy

Preparation: Make sure you have at least two party members, three if possible, who can cast Cure. You don't need many fighters in this battle; one will do, but the fighters you have should do as much damage per attack as possible. So a single Monk or Knight equipped with Long Sword should work. As usual, have your non-fighters in the back row. Having a Blue Mage with Toad Song will be helpful; you can learn this spell from the Elf Toads lower down in the Tower.

Tactics: Garula exclusively uses physical attacks, so begin by casting Protes on everyone starting with your front row. Garula uses a double counterattack whenever attacked, so only attack if your characters are high on health. This means you will not be attacking very frequently and you will want your attacks to count when you do, so only attack with a strong fighter. Watch for Garula's Charge attack since this inflicts HP leak which causes HP loss every tick. You have no way of removing this so you will need to keep casting Cure or using Tonics on the victim until the effect wears off or the battle ends. Keeping characters who are losing HP from having it drain away completely will be using most of your time. One way to reduce Garula's damage output is to cast Toad Song on it. Garula will probably reverse this on the next move so you will have to keep recasting it, but it makes a good opportunity to attack without being counterattacked. Garula can still use Charge when in toad form so even to you keep using Toad Song each turn you will still need to keep healing characters who are leaking HP.

The cutscene continues. Just when you thought you were in time to save the crystal it shatters just like the Wind crystal did. The soldier moves a bit and mumbles something about Lord Galuf, and Galuf is excited that someone knows who he is, but the soldier loses consciousness again and we don't learn anything else.

Check the crystal shards lying around to get 5 new jobs: Berserker, Sorcerer, Time Mage, Summoner, and Red Mage. There is one shard in the corner which you cannot reach.

Now the entire tower, and the end of the peninsula it was standing on, sinks into the ocean. If Hiryuu was in the area he will have moved eastwards. Exit through the door behind the crystal (the other way is blocked by the soldier) to end up floating in the water. Fortunately, Syldra comes to the rescue and carries the party to land in her belly. Exhausted, she disappears back into the ocean.
