As you play through the game, you will get the opportunity to perform side quests and get rare items.

Beanstones[edit]

After you save Queen Bean by bringing her the Chuckhola Reserve (in a rather… gross way) you'll notice that Beanbean Castle Town has been restored. Aye, thar be some explorin' ta be done, matey! Somewhere in town is an old man who needs you to help him find proof of the legendary Soybean civilization, who are said to have lived on these very grounds… accept to help him, of course, and he'll tell you to find 10 Beanstones, and he notes that the ancient Soybeans were, in fact quite small…

So what do you do? Get Luigi to grab his hammer and give his pal Mario a good old smack on the head. Now HE's quite small too! Now take a walk around the town. When you see an exclamation mark above Mario's head (!) then STOP. Now switch Mario and Luigi, dunk Luigi into the ground, and let him come out with (hopefully) a sparkling Beanstone! Well done! If you don't get the beanstone, look more carefully with small Mario at the exclamation mark, there are two different sizes and you want to dig where the big one is. Now rinse and repeat this process. There are 10 Beanstones in town, which makes five in each screen (you DID notice that the town has two screens… did you). I currently don't have the exact locations, but they're not really hard to find, just remember to walk a lot as little Mario.

So you say you've found 'em all? Well done! Bring the stones to the old man and he'll reward you with the Bros. Rock! A neat little badge indeed, it raises both Power and Bros. Points of one character by 20! Equip it right away, and wear it with pride, young grasshopper.

Beanlets[edit]

At the same time as the Beanstones quest, there's also a youngster in town who lost his little Beanlets. Accept to help him (you're so generous!) and set out to explore the town… again. The Beanlets are small and with round and green heads, so not really hard to find, except for one little sneaky who's hiding in the utmost northwest corner of the town, behind a house.. you might see his head sticking out if you look carefully. The Beanlets also like roofs a lot, so you won't have much trouble finding them all. There are five in total; bring them all back to the guy and he'll reward you with a rare GOLDEN MUSHROOM. This dandy little item will restore ALL the HP and BP of one character! Be sure to use it only in an emergency.

Harshall's/Bleetch's Studio[edit]

  • Requirements: Luigi's Thunderhand and the ability to shock Mario properly.

Getting to Harshall's Studio is easy. Go to the same place where the entrance to the airport is (with the two blue orbs), but instead of going in, go past the entrance and to the right. This will take you to a new screen. Shock Mario and move the Boo Statue, and a bridge will appear. There are a couple Chuckle Beans here with a pair of blocks (containing a Hoo Bean and some coins), so if you can, try to ignore them.

Go south and there is a Save Book. You should save, as a glitch can occur the player cannot do anything in the Shirt minigame tutorial! A restart is necessary to fix this glitch.

Is that the Beanstar piece? Woohoo, we won! Wait no, it's locked up in a cage, and it's in Harshall's possessions. There's a cutscene where Harshall will drive away 2 bean people, and he's pretty furious. He will explain how the game Splart works, but remember that again in the tutorial the game might freeze in some cases. There are a lot of mixes, 7 colors (Red, Blue, Yellow and combinations of the colors) and shirt patterns (Stripes, Polka-Dots, Checkers and a Star if you combine 2 or more designs).

First, he'll ask for a red, but you can choose the pattern yourself. Second, he will ask for a checkered yellow, and the one after that is a purple polka-dot shirt, then a brown star (he's depressed). Now he will give the Beanstar piece! You're practically done here, but if you go through the screen above and come back, Harshall will be back in the Shirt room. He needs your help again.

Though this time, you need to do all the combinations, and as a minor prize he will give you Woo beans (28 in total). However, you can get Harhall's Pants as a prize if you get all the combinations, so it's worth it to try again (unless you're having trouble hitting the Designbombs). They're only wearable by Mario, and with the equipment you currently have it would decrease 50 DEF and increase 60 HP, with also a extra status of Random-Gravity (chance of being affected to Heavy or Light gravity).

Getting the Iron Pants[edit]

  • Requirements: Spin Jump and the ability to shock Mario properly.

Referring to the Wool Trouser sidequest, but this time instead of using Thunderhand and Spin Jump to the right cave, go past the platform that the electrified blue orb raises, and keep Spin Jumping east until you find a Boo statue. Shock Mario and move it into it's spot, and a bridge will appear. Go across it, and break the cracked wall with your hammer. Go inside the cave.

Strike Mario with Luigi's Hammer and jump in. Now Mario's alone. Well, not really since there are Lil' Sparkies, but anyway continue going west. Jump and avoid the obstacles with fairly good patience, and it won't take long until you're there. Talk to the Monty Mole, and it will you the Iron Pants. These Pants give you a good amount of Defense (20 if you have the Shroom Bells), only are for Mario but unfortunately give Heavy-G, so battling won't be as easy.

Getting the Wool Trousers[edit]

  • Requirements: you need the Lightning ability for Luigi and the Spin Jump.

Go into the room below the Yoshi theater, or via right to the screen where you get to the actual Western plains of BeanBean Kingdom. Light up the blue orb in the wall, and continue to the right screen. Avoid getting in battle with the enemies (unless you want to), and maneuver yourself to the pinkish "!/?" block. Dunk Luigi under the gate and hit the block. Re-join the Bros. and keep going to back to the left screen, except this time you should be on top of a ground platform. Spin Jump across to the platform you raised with the Blue Orb, and you should arrive at a cave.

The first one should be easy. Jump Mario to the Simu-Block and readjust Luigi to the other one, and jump both of the Bros. at the same time.

The second one might be tricky if it's your first time. Jump Mario through the right platforms to the Simu-Block, watching out to not drop off the platform. Luigi should automatically follow along to the other Simu-block. The third one needs a bit of precision jumping. Jump Mario on the left side, and hold Down-Right and jump off the edge of the platform to manouver Luigi around the corner. The second corner can be done without jumping off the edge.

Afterwards, the Monty Mole should give you the Wool Trousers, which give HP-Auto Gain and a somewhat high DEF boost. This should be put on Mario unless you leveled Mario more than Luigi.

Secret Scrolls 1 and 2[edit]

When you have the Super and Ultra hammers in the Hammerhead Bros. house go to the bottom right corner there be 2 rocks and 2 caves in each is a Thwomp. The first wants 200 coins and the second wants 500. Save with at least 700 coins then play their game. One rock has coins, one has nothing, and one has a scroll.
