Enemy types

Certain enemies fall into types which make them different from normal monsters. These are permanent, unlike statuses which can be added or removed.

Undead

  • Healing items and spells (Tonic, Potion, Cure, Cure2, Cure3) have the opposite effect, in other words they remove HP rather than restore it.
  • Drain and Asper have reverse effects, in other words HP/MP will be drawn from the caster and restored to the target.
  • Raise and Phoenix Down can kill undead enemies instantly, though some are immune.
  • If death is caused by Doom or similar then the enemy springs back to life with full health.
  • Regen and Poison have the usual effects.
  • Take damage from the Song spell Requiem.
  • To tell, use a Tonic on the enemy; if it takes damage then it is undead type.

Heavy

  • Immune to spells where damage depends on the HP of the target. This includes Demi, Demi2 (Time spells), Missile (Blue spell), Falcon (Animal spell).
  • Immune to spells that cause instant death such as Doom. Immune to Raise and Phoenix down if both heavy and undead.
  • To tell, cast Demi on the enemy; if there is no effect then then it is Heavy type.
