This page needs images of controls for the Xbox from the controller buttons category to make learning the controls easier. If a set of controller button images is available for this system, please add them. If a set of controller images isn't available, it might need to be brought up on StrategyWiki:Staff lounge.

Below are the controls for the NES, PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Xbox versions of Mega Man 2. The interface is the same for all versions of Mega Man, with the exception of the navigation mode in Mega Man Anniversary Collection and the new menu designs.

NES controls

  • Up dpad: Ascend ladders, scroll through menus
  • Down dpad: Descend ladders, scroll through menus
  • Left dpad: Run to the left
  • Right dpad: Run to the right
  • Start button: Pause (menu)
  • Select button: not used
  • A button: Jump, confirm selection
  • B button: Shoot

PlayStation 2 controls

  • Up dpad or Up lstick: Ascend ladders, scroll through menus
  • Down dpad or Down lstick: Descend ladders, scroll through menus
  • Left dpad or Left lstick: Run to the left
  • Right dpad or Right lstick: Run to the right
  • Start button: Pause (menu)
  • Select button: Display exit game menu, goes to Navi Mode screen
  • Square button: Shoot
  • Cross button: Jump, confirm selection
  • Circle button: No use
  • Triangle button: Cancel, auto-fire
  • L1 button / R1 button: Change weapons (left / right)
  • L2 button: No use
  • R2 button: No use

GameCube controls

  • Left control: Mega Man will move to the left
  • Right control: Mega Man will move to the right
  • Up control: Mega Man will climb a ladder
  • Down control: Mega Man will climb down a ladder
  • B button: Jump
  • A button: Shoot
  • Start button: Opens the weapon sub-screen.
  • In Navi Mode, use Z button to open up the weapon sub-screen and Start button to open up the hints screen.
