As Roger Wilco loses yet another broom to the deep deeply depths of outer space, you come into complete control. ''Look at the watch'' and ''press the C button'' to receive a message from your boss. Exit the screen, and proceed to any of the walls (north and west of your original location). You will notice that Roger Wilco can walk on walls in space. Walk to the circular elevation on the ceiling, to discover that it is actually an elevator.

Since Space Quest II (like many other Sierra On-Line Adventures) utilizes a point system, the walkthrough will provide every action necessary for scoring the maximal amount of points. The guide will also note if the action is optional or not (if you don't mind not getting full points). The point value per action will appear in square brackets immediately following the description of your action, like this: [0]

You will find yourself in a small airlock. Walk over to the civilian clothes and ''change clothes'' to receive hero attire for the remainder of the journey. Walk to the lockers on the Easter wall. ''Open locker'' and ''take all''. You will pick up a cubix rube and an athletic supporter. Walk through the door.
The guide is '''not''' spoiler-free but will cover the game in order to minimize the effect of spoilers. The only exceptions to this are possibilities of creating a situation when one cannot beat the game and is not informed until later. Such possibilities are covered out of order as a warning.

After a short meeting with your superior, walk over to the platform in the north-west corner of the room. Walk left on the balcony and enter the pneumatic transport. On the next screen, walk downstairs, and enter the ship.
===Saving your game===

==Labion==
Although this guide does not explicitly tell you to save your game, it is imperative that you save often. Think of saving as part of the gameplay. Save early, save often, and don't overwrite saves. Saving is initiated by pressing {{kbd|F5}}. You have a limit of 12 saves per folder, but don't let that stop you from making as many saves as you need.
<!-- Intro to Labion -->

===The Perils of Labion===
Should you die in this game, you can restore a game by pressing {{kbd|F7}} and selecting the game. Or you can restart the game by pressing {{kbd|F9}}.
Roger miraculously survives the explosion - the luck that his captors do not share. As Roger finds himself back on his feet, ''pick up the keycard.'' (For a meaningful experience, you may wish to ''search the man'' first.) Walk over to the crashed pod, and ''press the button'' to turn off the annoying alarm system. Walk between the bushes to the north. On the next screen, walk one screen east. (On your way, you should see a message about Roger hearing a high pitched squeal, you may need to wait a little bit.) You will see a little red man tied to a tree. Walk over to him and ''free the man.'' Return to the previous screen. Walk up the ramp, and remain hidden behind one of the pillar-like rock formations. Wait patiently - in a minute or two, one of Vohaul's goons will fly by. Continue up the ramp and walk one screen to the left. You will see a conveniently (mis)placed mailbox. Approach it and ''mail the order form.'' After the machine seizes its operation, ''pick up the whistle.'' You may now walk south and drop down from the cliff - Roger somehow manages to survive that little fall. Approach large spores on the bottom of the screen, and being careful not to step on any of them ''pick up a spore.'' (If you step on one, Roger will pass out for a couple of minutes.)

<!-- ROOT MONSTER MAZE FLOAT HERE -->
===Naming your character===

Walk over to the north-west of the screen to find yourself in front of a giant root monster, whose sensitive tentacles create a (rather simple) maze. Beyond the monster, the freed Pinkunz is picking up some berries from the bush. '''Save your game.''' Slowly and carefully, walk through the maze, saving often to ensure the least amount of redundancy possible. On the other side, approach the bush, and ''pick up berries.'' You now must walk all the way back through the maze, utilizing similar strategy. After leaving the screen with the maze, walk one screen east to take you north of the crash site. Take the ramp up and exit on the right side of the screen to find yourself at the swamp.
When you first start the program, you can name your character what you want, so long as it is 18 characters or less and doesn't have a % or / sign in it. By default, the character's name is "Roger Wilco".

On the shore, freed Pinkunz appears to be rubbing himself a lot. Following his example, ''rub berries on your body.'' Enter the swamp, and proceed one screen east. After dodging death one more time, position yourself in the deep section of the swamp, and ''take a deep breath.'' Swim to the underground cave on the left side of the screen. Once you are there, ''take the gem.'' Return to the water, ''take a deep breath,'' and return to the surface. Continue right for two more screens.
Once a game has a name attached to it, it cannot be changed. To start a game with a new name, quit and restart the program.

===A Series of Fortunate Escapes===
{{Footer Nav|game=Space Quest II: Vohaul's Revenge|prevpage=Hints|nextpage=Xenon Orbital Station 4}}
You will notice a withered tree next to a deep chasm. Approach it, and ''climb the tree.'' After quite an impressive (not to mention risky, stupid, and dangerous) stunt, you will find yourself on a newly created "bridge" of sorts. Move right, and attempt to walk across the next screen.

You will awake in a cage, with a rather grumpy looking hunter tending to his campfire. ''Call hunter'' will yield no response. Remain persistent: ''call the hunter'' one more time. As soon as the hunter gets up, quickly type in ''throw the spore,'' but do not execute it until the hunter stops for a moment. Immediately following the hunter's collapse, ''pick up the key'' and ''unlock the door.'' Finally, ''open the door'' to finalize your escape. ''Pick up the rope'' to the north, and exit to the north.

On the next screen, '''do not approach the edge''': proceed left, and continue left until you return to the screen with the chasm and the tree log. ''Climb the log'' and ''tie the rope to the log.'' Finally, ''climb the rope'' into the chasm.

Naturally, you will find a massive, hungry monster waiting for you. ''Swing the rope.'' As the swinging becomes more and more intense, the monster will attempt to grab Roger. His fourth try is successful, which means that immediately after his third grab, you must press F6 when Roger reaches the left-most point of his swing. Exit into the cave on your left. ''Use the gem'' to provide yourself with a bit of light, and cross the dark cave.

As Roger gets up from yet another painful fall, don't forget to ''pick up the gem.'' Walk one screen down to meet the leader of the Pinkunz. Although your life is safe in the midst of their camp, you still have the world to save, so simply ''say the word,'' and an exit will be provided for you. Enter the hole, and you will find yourself in complete darkness.

<!-- PINKUNZ MAZE FLOAT HERE -->

As before, you will need your glowing gem: ''put the gem in your mouth.'' You will find yourself in a rather large maze of tunnels. From the beginning:

* take the ladder all the way down
* crawl to the right
* climb down the first ladder you reach
* climb the first small tunnel on your right
* continue until the next ladder
* take the ladder down until the next tunnel on your right
* head down the first ladder you come across in that tunnel
* take the second tunnel left that you pass
* take the third ladder down and climb into the first tunnel on your right
* continue in that direction to exit the maze.

You will find yourself in a large underground cave. Enter the water and swim right. Zig-zag to the fork, and take the right opening to exit the cave. Swim one screen right. Stay in the water, and ''use the whistle.'' Upon the arrival of Labion Terror Beast, type in ''throw the puzzle'' and execute the command the moment you set foot on dry land. Walk north to the hole in the rock (made by the Labion Terror Beast) and ''pick up a stone.'' Proceed north.

You will find yourself at the landing tower. Multiple solutions are possible here. For maximal points, ''sling the stone at the guard.'' If, perchance, you've forgotten the keycard, you may ''throw the stone'' and immediately walking around the left-side of the bush to hide from the guard. Last but not least, you can always simply walk over to the door while the guard is not looking. ''Insert the keycard'' into the door, and take the elevator to the spaceship. Walk behind the ship and ''enter the ship.''

Inside, ''turn on power,'' ''press the ascent button,'' and ''turn the dial.'' Press "down" on your keyboard, and continue holding it until you clear the gravitational pull of Labion.

==Vohaul's Asteroid==
<!-- Asteroid Introduction -->
===Items: The Gathering===
As you exit your ship, walk one screen to the right, and enter the elevator. ''Press three'' to take the elevator to the third floor. Walk three screens to the right. ''Press the button,'' enter the closet and ''pick up the plunger.'' Return to the elevator (walk three screens to the left). ''Press four'' to get to the fourth floor.
<!-- CLEANER DROID WARNING FLOAT -->
Walk two screens to the right, and ''press the button'' to enter the bathroom. Walk to the only available stall and ''open the door.'' Although you may wish to ''close door,'' ''sit'' and perhaps ''read the wall,'' you need to ''pick up toilet paper.'' Exit the bathroom, and continue one screen to the right. ''Press the button'' as before, and ''pick up the glass cutter.'' Return to the elevator (three screens to the left). ''Press five''.
<!-- ALIEN FROM "ALIENS" WARNING -->
On the fifth floor, walk three screens east, and ''press the button'' as before. ''Pick up coveralls'' and ''pick up the lighter.'' Last but not least, ''pick up the basket.'' Return to the elevator, and ''press one.''

===The Tragic Demise of Sludge Vohaul===
After returning to your ship, take the stairs down. Walk right, and a wall will drop from the ceiling. Walk left, and another wall will block your movement. To make matters worse, you will notice that the floor will shift leftward, opening a vat of very deadly acid. Type in ''stick plunger on the wall'' and wait until the trap is almost completely open. Execute the command, and wait for the floor to restore itself to normal. ''Let go'' and Roger will pick up the plunger.

In order to defeat the robotic security forces, ''put paper in basket'' and ''place basket on the floor.'' ''Light paper'' will trigger the sprinklers, putting electronic devices out of commission. Walk two screens left  to meet Sludge Vohaul. Approach Sludge's desk, and he will use his ShrinkRay to capture you. Approach the southern wall of the glass jar, and ''use the glass cutter'' to free yourself. Now, approach the vent on the left side of the screen, and ''climb the vent''. Inside, move towards the red button on the northern wall, and ''press the button''. Return to the vent, and ''climb the vent'' once again.

Walk one screen to the left, and approach the on/off switch. ''Pull switch'' to turn the computer on. Approach the keyboard, and ''type enlarge''. Return to the glass jar to return to your normal size. To stop the clones, you will need Vohaul's security code. ''Search Vohaul'' will give it to you: SHSR. ''Look at the computer screen'' and type in the code: ''SHSR'' (although ''TITS'' also works). Exit the screen via the narrow staircase to your right (use Keypad 9).

Inside the glass tube, approach the red box, and ''pick up the oxygen mask''. ''Wear the mask'' immediately. Follow the tube to the right and then south. As you find yourself inside another hallway, type in ''press the button'' and walk four screens to the left. Approach the button and execute the prepared command. '''Immediately''' move to the right and do not stop until you pass a narrow archway to the blue walkway. Turn around and retrace your steps, with a prepared command ''enter the pod'' typed in. As you reach the pod, execute the command, and ''press the button'' to escape Vohaul's Asteroid.

Congratulations... Almost. Seems that death is in your destiny after all. ''Look at the ship''. Move to the sleeping chamber in the top-right corner of the escape pod, ''open the chamber'' and ''enter the chamber''.

Congratulations! You've now completed Space Quest II: Vohaul's Revenge.

The story so far[edit]

As you recall, in out last chapter you had just foiled the Sariens' fiendish plot to rule the galaxy by using the 'Star Generator' as their weapon of destruction. You became a true hero by saving countless lives and returning the Star Generator technology into safe hands.

Life was Beautiful.

But, heroes come and go, and people soon forget. Your celebrated "hero-dom" slowly fades, leaving you once again a janitor.

The promotion to head janitor was no consolation. (Especially since you are the ONLY member of the janitorial staff.) Nor was the transfer to the 'Xenon Orbital Station 4'. Sweating like a pork-beast in a pressure suit, while relocating space debris in zero gravity, just wasn't your idea of a good time.

So, Life Sucks.....Again.

Using the guide[edit]

For a spoiler-free walkthrough, see Hints.

This guide will highlight entered commands, such as take keycard . For the summary of commands needed to complete Space Quest II, please see the Command Line Walkthrough.

The guide is not spoiler-free but will cover the game in order to minimize the effect of spoilers. The only exceptions to this are possibilities of creating a situation when one cannot beat the game and is not informed until later. Such possibilities are covered out of order as a warning.

Saving your game[edit]

Although this guide does not explicitly tell you to save your game, it is imperative that you save often. Think of saving as part of the gameplay. Save early, save often, and don't overwrite saves. Saving is initiated by pressing  F5 . You have a limit of 12 saves per folder, but don't let that stop you from making as many saves as you need.

Should you die in this game, you can restore a game by pressing  F7  and selecting the game. Or you can restart the game by pressing  F9 .

Naming your character[edit]

When you first start the program, you can name your character what you want, so long as it is 18 characters or less and doesn't have a % or / sign in it. By default, the character's name is "Roger Wilco".

Once a game has a name attached to it, it cannot be changed. To start a game with a new name, quit and restart the program.
