You'll end up in Flipside, an area between dimensions. You must place the first Pure Heart in a heart pillar, which is located on the left side of the third floor. Either follow Tippi and take the elevators, or jump off the tower (which has the bonus of seeing Mario land on his face. Yay). After placing the Pure Heart, a door to the place where the next one is will appear on the tower. Go to it and enter Lineland, the land...made of lines.

When you go through the red door, you'll find a land with algebra equations in the sky called Lineland.

Heart Pillar 1

-= Flipside Tower =-

After a very lengthy cut scene (answer yes to Merlon's question or your game will end), you are now in control of Mario in the town of Flipside. Follow Tippi left and down the elevator.

At the bottom of the elevator, go left and save your game, then follow Tippi right. Use the elevator.

Follow her left. Walk up to and "use" (up on the D-pad) the pillar.

Go back to the right and use the elevator again. Now use the elevator to the right of the save block you used earlier.

Chapter 1-1: The Adventure Unfolds

Enemies:

  • Goomba - Max HP:1, Attack:1, Defense:0
  • Squiglet - Max HP:2, Attack:1, Defense:0
  • Squig - Max HP:4, Attack:1, Defence:0
  • Sproing-Oing - Max HP:4, Attack:1, Defense:0

Get it? Unfolds? Paper? Ha ha. Yeah. Anyway, just move far to the right side of this screen, jumping on the enemies to kill them. In the house there, use Tippi to reveal a hidden door. You'll meet Bestovious, who will teach you how to flip to 3D for 10,000 coins. Decline twice to make him teach it to you for free! Now flip to 3D (Press the A button as Mario). When you do, a meter will appear at the top of the screen. If it runs out, you'll lose 1 HP, so be careful!

Go back outside, then flip near the door surrounded by blocks in order to get into it. In the next area, continue going right and flip near the green pipe to pass it. When you get to a giant gap, flip again and walk on the path to the left.

When you get to a large wall that seems impossible to pass, flip and keep going. In the next area (yup, another one), hit the ? block to get a Mega Star that makes you...MEGA MARIO!! You can kill any enemies and break bricks by touching them. When your power runs out, you'll find a Star Block, which you can hit to end this chapter.

Chapter 1-2: Afoot in the Foothills

Enemies:

  • Koopa Troopa - Max HP:1, Attack:1, Defense:1
  • Paratroopa - Max HP:1, Attack:1, Defense:1
  • Spiky Tromp - Attack:1 (Cannot be defeated)

You'll now have to cross Mount Lineland to get to Yold Town, which leads to the Pure Heart. Jump on the Koopa Troopas at the beginning to knock them into their shells, then kick them to get points and crash into other foes. Climb the ledges until you get to large, moving rectangle. By standing in the red square near them, these rectangles will scoop you up and take you to the other side of the area. Run right to find a switch; activate it in 3D to raise ledges leading to more rectangles. Ride them and go through the door.

Keep going right until you seem to reach a dead end, then flip into 3D to find some blocks you can use as steps. Do the same for the next set. Defeat the Koopas here, and proceed towards the incline. Some Spiky Tromps are rolling down it. They are nearly impossible to jump over, so use 3D and go through the door. You'll find a large gap that you cannot jump across. Go into the nearby pipe and go into the house. Go up the stairs and flip into 3D to find Red, who will put down the bridge for you. Continue across the bridge to Yold Town.

If you want to, you can talk to the people here or visit another one of Howzit's shops. When you're ready to continue, go to the mayor's house on the far right to hear that if you are rally the hero, you must have a Pixl shaped like a hand. To find it, enter the house to the left of the mayor's (whose name is Watchitt), flip, and enter the pipe behind the books. To avoid the Thwomps, flip again and go through the door. You'll come to a seemingly empty room, but wait! Use Tippi to find a hidden door. Here, you'll find the Pixl Watchitt was talking about, Thoreau, but you'll be become locked in the room where you found him. To get out, grab the nearby block with Thoreau by pressing the 1 button, then jump and press it again near the switch. Return to Watchitt, who will tell the bridge...guy to put down the bridge. Go to his house by using the pipe near Watchitt's. Talk to him (his name's Green, by the way) and you'll be able to cross to the Star Block.

Chapter 1-3: The Sands of Yold

Enemies:

  • Squiglet - Max HP:2, Attack:1, Defense:0
  • Squig - Max HP:4, Attack:1,Defense:0
  • Boomboxer - Max HP:4, Attack:2, Defense:0
  • Jawbus - Max HP: 5, Attack:1, Defense:0

  • Bald Cleft - Max HP:2, Attack:1, Defense:2
  • Cherbil - Max HP:5, Attack:2, Defense:0
  • Ice Cherbil - Max HP:5, Attack:2, Defense:0

Boss:

  • O'Chunks - Max HP: 20, Attack:1, Defense:0

When you arrive in Yold desert, walk to the right until you get to a red palm tree. If you want to skip part of this chapter, jump while standing under it ten times to make a door appear, then go through it. Go right and flip into 3D to get across the sand. Then flip 3D again to get across the brown bricks. Save. Enter the door.

Boss fight: O'Chunks

  • Difficulty: Very Easy
  • Max HP: 20, Attack:1, Defense:0

Attacks:

  • 1 Tries to jump on you.
  • 2 Grabs you and throws you. Does 2 damage.

Defenses against attacks:

  • 1 Avoid him.
  • 2 Jump away.

Strategies:

  • To defeat him, just jump on him repeatedly.
  • When you go near him and when he lands from A jump use Thoreau to grab him and throw him then jump on him.

Chapter 1-4: Monster of the Ruins

Enemies:

  • Squiglet - Max HP:2, Attack:1, Defense:0
  • Buzzy Beetle - Max HP:1, Attack:1, Defense:3
  • Spiky Tromp - Attack:1 (Cannot be defeated)

Boss:

  • Fracktail - Max HP:18, Attack:1, Defense:0

Down the stairs and through the door. Go right. Jump over the sand rivers and use 3-D mode to bypass the fire wheel. Jump up on the item block and jump right. Down the ladder to find a life shroom. Go back to the item brick. Enter the door to the right.

Again, use 3-D mode to bypass the flame wheels. Go all the way to the end of the hall until you find some bricks that are only viewable in 3-D mode. In 3-D mode, jump up and hit them. Now switch back to 2-D. Cool huh? Enter the door.

Use 3-D mode to bypass the tromps, then climb the ladder and open the chest. Go back through the door. Use the key to open the locked door you passed earlier.

Hit the save block. The item blocks aren't worth the hassle, so just continue right. Use 3-D mode to bypass the Tromps again, and, while still in 3-D mode, jump on the item brick and use it to reach the door.

Fall down to the right. Grab and throw an enemy into the switch (if you're close to leveling up, there are infinite enemies in this room). Climb back up the ladder and through the door.

Go back to where the sand pit was (with the coin bricks) to find a key. Jump up and use Thoreau to grab it. Go back to the right and unlock the door.

Down the stairs and use Tippi to reveal a ledge under the door. Enter by jumping off one of the stairs.

Walk right into what appears to be a dead end. Flip into 3-D to find a path off to the right. Follow it and open the chest for a Buzzy Beetle card. Follow the path back.

This time go left and flip into 3-D underneath the key. This will reveal a passage in the wall where the key is actually at (quite the optical illusion eh?). Go back and unlock the door.

Use the spring and continue to the left. Dead end? I think not. 3-D mode! Climb the ladder. Jump on the blue ! block and be ready to run to the left. Ready? RUN! Go back and press the red button.

Fall down the hole. Neat huh? Enter the door.

Go into 3-D mode to reveal what order to hit the blocks in (1, 2, 3, 4). Up the stairs. Save and grab the super shroom from the item block. Enter the pipe.

Boss fight: Fracktail

Difficulty: Very Easy Max HP:18, Attack:1, Defense:0

Attacks:

  • 1 Tries to bump you.
  • 2 Frackies shoot you.

Defenses against attacks:

  • 1 Flip to 3D.
  • 2 Jump away.

Strategies:

  • When he rushes towards you, flip to 3D and jump on his back.
  • When on his back, grab A Frackie and throw it at his antena.

After that, go in the door to get the next Pure Heart.
