Description[edit]

Route 38 is another cliff-like level that starts on the bottom near the right exit, and climbs to the top at the left exit. However, if you're following along with this walkthrough, you likely didn't arrive in this route from either side. Instead, you arrive in this route after defeating the Demon on Route 39 with the Sword of Apollo, and then subsequently cleaned out the clutch of demon eggs. If you did, you drop down into the right side of the ice cavern shown below:

When you arrive, you are greeted by a large ice throwing monster. Drop down and defeat the monster, while watching out for the ice, and then proceed to the left. As you do, the only enemies you will encounter are the small bouncing types. When you reach the left wall, you may note that you can't really climb it. You have two choices here. You can either put on a Jet Pack and fly to the top, or you can wear the Supersuit which gives you the ability to climb the ice. Using the Supersuit to climb ice doesn't use up any energy. Either way, fly or climb to the very top and exit through the door that you find.

This door will deposit you directly in the middle of the route. From there, climb up the wall to your left to reach the screen above. There you will find three slowly floating enemies high up in the sky. As you move to the left, and enemy will fly toward you in a wave. Continue to the wall on the left and climb up to the next screen. Once there, run under the ledge to the right, climb up the right wall, and then jump on top of the ledge. Make your way to the left, encountering enemies that fly around in loops. Continue all the way to the left exit.
