Settlement Survival also runs a number of limited time events that coincide with real world holidays and celebrations. Various events and the aesthetics of the game can change during this time period, and event-specific structures can be built as well.
Christmas[edit]
The Christmas event runs in late December and ends in early January.
The Giant Christmas Tree is a large structure that provides random gifts to children every 5 years. While it can only be constructed during the Christmas event, it will remain and function after the event is concluded.
Christmas Hats can be built at this time, and citizens who don them as part of their clothing will have their appearance change.
Snowmen can be built along paths to increase the health of nearby citizens.
Christmas Trees are decorative structures that can be built during the event. They can also be used to upgrade houses for a happiness bonus.
Lunar New Year[edit]
The Lunar New Year event coincides with the Lunar New Year, otherwise called the Chinese New Year.
During this event, all players who start a new city automatically begin with Rice seeds, citizens wear red clothing, and decorative lanterns appear on buildings.
Children will also receive red envelopes (紅包 - "red packets") and consume them for a happiness boost.
Various improved foodstuffs have been added for the duration of the event, including Tusu Wine in the Distillery, Rice Cakes at the mill, and Glue Puddings at both the mill and the gourmet shop.
Fireworks can be built as decorative items throughout the city. When triggered, all fireworks will be set off at the same time. Fireworks can also interact with a new wonder building, the Rui Beast Plaza. Having the plaza built will eliminate all accidental deaths from the city. Setting off fireworks from the plaza will boost all citizens' happiness to full.
The Yuanxiao Lanterns event also occurs during this time. Clicking on them gives your citizens a chance at deciphering a puzzle. If they are successful, you will be granted some resources.
