Settlement Survival/Roads

This construction category includes roads, bridges, and tunnels.

In general, roads offer increased movement speed to those walking on it. All roads are 1 tile in width, so try to organize your town with at least one space in between buildings for roads. Dirt roads are free to build, so having these up early can improve efficiency by a small amount.

Bridges are used to cross rivers and other bodies of water, while tunnels allow citizens to traverse mountain ranges. Neither bridges nor tunnels can turn, and must be built in a straight line.

Bridges

Bridges are the way your citizens can cross a water way, the river or even a pond. To build one you must start the bridge at least 2 tiles from the water, drag across the water, by 2 tiles again, then let go. The bridges each provide their own movement speed buff, which are stated in the in-game tooltips. The Jade Bridge is the fastest. Having the Large Bridge does NOT raise throughput and is only 75% movement speed buff.

Roads

Roads provide movement speed boosts to any citizen walking on them. The Jade and Gold ones are the same, both with a 125% walking speed boost. Having wider roads does not provide any more speed boost, but can shorten the total walking distace by a tile or two. You can also make some cool designs with them! You can upgrade a road just by dragging a new road over it. The old road costs will not be refunded and will be lost _Verify
