Through the Dragon's Eye challenge 5 intro.png

At the start of this challenge, Gorwen will tell you from off-screen "Choose up to three things that might be useful:" with the words "LEAVE" and "TAKE", eleven boxes (the five in the top row have net, rope, helmet, skis and torch in them, and the eleventh one has ready to go in it) and the text "Use the SPACE BAR and RETURN" below it; the three things that will be useful are the rope, helmet, and skis, so once you've selected these and transferred them to the boxes below them in the bottom row (if you try to do this a fourth time Gorwen will say "No more than three things."), you will have to select ready to go to continue. Once you have done so, Gorwen, Amanda, and the Widget who partially obscured the "ROAD UNSAFE" sign will appear in a snowscape, as the text "The Widget has followed them into a snowstorm. Where should they shelter to put their skis on?" appears at the bottom of the screen with two options, Igloo and Hut, below it - and if you choose Igloo, Gorwen and Amanda will go into the igloo but the Widget will ski over to the ice block and push it towards the entrance as the text "Oh no! The Widget's blocked up the entrance." appears below him. Once you push  Space  to continue, the text "Should Gorwen:" will appear at the bottom of the screen with two options, Push some of the ice blocks away?, and Melt some of the ice blocks? below it; regardless of which one you choose the Widget will ski to the right as either "That will take too long. A password might help." or "Amanda's getting soaked! Try a password instead.", depending on which option you picked, appears below him. Once you have pressed  Space  again, either "Would you like to try:" (with three options of White as SNOW, Loud as LIGHTNING and Hard as CLOUDS below it) or "Choose one of these:" (with three more options Clear as MIST, Dry as a DESERT and Bold as ICE below it) appears under the Widget - and the right codes are the first and second ones respectively, so once you have chosen them Gorwen and Amanda will reemerge from the igloo (Amanda is wearing the helmet and skis) as the text "Phew! Now go to the slope." appears below them, and you shall have to press  Space  to continue to the challenge's next part.

However, if you pick Hut, Gorwen and Amanda will go into the hut but the Widget will ski over to it, telepathically lock its door, and ski back to the left as the text of "Oh no! The Widget has locked them in. Should they:" appears beneath him with two options of Bash down the door? and Climb out of the window? below it; if you choose the first option, three scratches shall appear on the door as the Widget skis to the right and the text "Ouch! Splinters! A password might help again." appears under him. Once you push  Space  to continue, the text "Would you like to try:" will appear under the Widget with three options, Bold as MICE, Cold as ICE and Round as DICE below it - and the correct code is the second one, so once you've picked it Gorwen and Amanda will reemerge from the hut (Amanda is again wearing the helmet and skis), as the text "They're out! Now go to the slope." appears below them, and you'll again have to push  Space  to continue to the challenge's next part (however, if you pick Climb out of the window?, Amanda will appear in the window as the text "Should Amanda:" appears under her with two options, Climb down the rope?, and Jump to the ground? below it. The correct answer is the first one, and once you choose it the rope will lower itself from the roof to the ground as Amanda, once again wearing the helmet and skis, climbs down it, and Gorwen reemerges from the hut as the Widget skis off the screen and the text of "Good, now go to the slope." appears below them).

Once you've continued with the challenge, Amanda will ski down a slope as the first of three rocks falls (narrowly missing her), and the text "Phew! That was close!" appears below her; once you've pressed  Space  to continue, Amanda shall ski off the screen's right side. Scott and Boris will then appear as Amanda and Gorwen ski, and slide, up to them respectively and the text "Hooray! Amanda and Gorwen have found Boris and Scott." appears below them - and the twelfth of thirteen more rocks (which is bigger than the others) will then fall onto Boris and bounce off him onto the ground as the text "A rock has hit Boris on the head. Ouch! It's not a rock. It is the second Veeton!" appears at the bottom of the screen. Once you have pressed  Space  to continue again Gorwen will say "Well done. You've found two Veetons but you must get away before more rocks fall!"; once you have pushed  Space  for a third time, he will say "Can you remember one of the Book Tree's passwords?", and once you have pressed  Space  for a fourth time, he will say "Type in a password quickly, then press the RETURN key." as a cursor flashes on the six-character line below it (as time passes, the first to sixth rocks will fall to the ground, and if the seventh one falls onto Gorwen and bounces on his head he will say "More bumps!", so you will have to press  Space  to return time back to when he'd first asked you to type in a password). You may remember from the second challenge that the Book Tree's passwords are AMANDA, BAT, BOOK, DRAGON, MAGIC, UNLOCK and WIDGET - and once you type any of them in and confirm it, Gorwen will say "Thank you for saving us from the falling rocks! Now we must go through the tunnel to the other side of the mountain.", as the four laser beams on a tunnel Boris is standing to the left of disappear. Once you have pressed  Space  for a fifth time, Boris shall go through the tunnel with the second Veeton followed by Scott, Amanda and Gorwen, and the game will proceed to its sixth challenge which involves finishing a poem to get a map of Widge behind a waterfall.
