The Delvar learns much fewer spells than the Sorceress does. The reason for this is to save room in her spell book for the Rune Master's high powered elemental spells. The downside to this is she doesn't have as many useful spells as the Sorceress does when you fight the Godbeasts. Dark Force is useful against the Godbeast of Light though (who is one of the most difficult).
Unlike the Sorceress and her five upper-level spells, the Delvar learns only one advanced elemental spell called Dark Force. However, Dark Force is slightly stronger than the Sorceress spells, and it is capable of bypassing barriers like Counter Magic.  This gives the Delvar a clear advantage over the Sorceress against two of the eight God Beasts.   The Delvar can also grow her Intelligence slightly faster than the Sorceress can, allowing the low level spells to hit with a bit extra force.
