This is just like it was from [[Mario Kart 64]], but its guardrails are now gone, making it possible to fall in the lake where the choco boulders fall and fall over the edge that leads to the finish line. The choco boulders knock over karts and if a racer is to fall into the lake, they will be rescued by Lakitu. The shortcut that can launch a kart over the ledge of the track won't work now because karts don't drive up the edge like the karts in Mario Kart 64.
