Silencer is a ranged intelligence hero that can play as a support and a semi-carry. He can be very annoying as his entire playstyle revolves around silencing enemies, preventing them from casting their important spells. His Last Word is his main silence tool, forcing his enemies to silence themselves or be rendered completely helpless. He canalso force silences with Curse of the Silent, and if they get killed while silenced, he can earn intelligence to power up his Glaives of Wisdom. Finally, he can completely shut down the enemy team with a well-timed Global Silence.

Curse of the Silent[edit]

Dota 2 silencer curse of the silent.png
  • Ability: Target Point
  • Damage Type: Magical
  • Mana Loss: 8 / 16 / 24 / 32
  • Damage: 20 / 35 / 50 / 65
  • Radius: 350
  • Duration: 6
  • Mana Cost: 75 / 95 / 115 / 135
  • Cooldown: 20 / 18 / 16 / 14

Curse of the Silent will cause any enemy hero within the targeted area to lose health and mana until they use an ability. It synergizes perfectly with your Last Word, as enemies must either contend with losing their health and mana or cast an ability and get silenced. Alternatively, you can use Curse of the Silent on silenced enemies, letting you get all the health and mana drain the ability provides.

Glaives of Wisdom[edit]

Dota 2 silencer glaives of wisdom.png
  • Ability: Auto-Cast, Target Unit
  • Affects: Enemy Heroes
  • Damage Type: Pure
  • Int To Damage: 30% / 45% / 60% / 75%
  • Mana Cost: 15

Glaives of Wisdom is a toggled ability that lets you do bonus pure damage with your attacks based on your intelligence. If a hero dies within a 900 unit radius or is killed by yourself, you will steal 2 intelligence from that hero. It's a unique attack modifier and doesn't stack with other unique attack modifiers. If your intelligence is pretty high you can do a lot of damage, especially since pure damage ignores armor and magic resistance. While you can auto-cast the ability to apply the effect whenever you attack, it is much wiser to cast it manually in between attacks as it will not cause creeps to attack you as well as letting you manage your mana more effectively.

Last Word[edit]

Dota 2 silencer last word.png
  • Ability: Target Unit
  • Affects: Enemy Heroes
  • Damage Type: Magical
  • Silence/Disarm Duration: 3 / 4 / 5 / 6
  • Debuff Duration: 5
  • Damage: 150 / 200 / 250 / 300
  • Mana Cost: 100
  • Cooldown: 36 / 28 / 20 / 12

Last Word places a debuff on an enemy unit. If the enemy casts a spell, they will be silenced and damaged. If they don't cast a spell, they still get silenced and damaged, but also be unable to use right click attacks for the duration of the silence. It can be a very annoying ability that forces your enemies to silence themselves. The silence combined with the disarm will make an enemy hero completely useless. If the target is low on mana or doesn't have many spells to use, like a hard carry, the disable becomes even more threatening.

Global Silence[edit]

Dota 2 silencer global silence.png
  • Ability: No Target
  • Duration: 4 / 5 / 6
  • Mana Cost: 250 / 350 / 450
  • Cooldown: 140

Global Silence, as its name implies, will silence every enemy on the map at once. This can be absolutely devastating if you manage to use it just before a teamfight starts. The enemy will have no way to initiate, and most of the supports and burst damage dealers will be rendered useless. However, with a cooldown of more than 2 minutes, you must judge when do you really need it.
