Note: On the Gameboy Color game Super Mario Bros Deluxe these levels are shown as "Super Mario Bros for Super Players". You can only access them by beating Luigi in the top score table. When you do this, a picture of Luigi's head will appear on the main menu. You can save your progress in only one file, aside from the main screen. Your top scores will be recorded, but not on a table. You can only play as Mario in this version.

=== Plumber Performance ===
As is the case in the American version of Super Mario Bros. 2, the Mario Bros. have slightly different abilities in the area of jumping. Luigi is the high jumper of the two while Mario can stop more accurately.

=== | === Lost Level Surprises ===
The Lost Levels are logical extensions of the first Super Mario Bros. game. The objects and enemies are very similar with the exception of three interesting items; Poisonous Mushrooms, Red Piranha Plants, and Super Springs.
width="50%" | Poisonous Mushroom: Red Mushrooms make little Mario or Luigi super-sized. Green Mushrooms serve as a 1-Up. But, Brown Mushrooms (Purple in Super Mario All-Stars) should be avoided. They move like regular and 1-Up mushrooms too, so beware! These nasty objects power-down a big plumber and knock out a small plumber. Depending on the terrain, Poisonous mushrooms are brown, cyan, or white.
width="50%" | Red Piranha Plants: These menaces pop out and sink in faster than green ones. You can only stand on top of the pipe to make them temporarily disappear. These debut in World 4-1, and green ones are gone for good. Upside-down Piranha Plants are just like red ones, but they don't get scared off at all! They debut in World 5-1 along with the right-side up.
} | |||
:Fake Bowser: Appears in the middle of Worlds 8-4, 9-3, and D-4. He is very similar to Bowser, but he is aqua colored.
:Super Springs: These jump-aids look identical to the regular Springs. But when your hero hits a Super Spring and jumps at the same time, he'll blast off into the stratosphere.
== | === Coin count / End Timer (1up trick) ===
* Finish your level with coins totalling a multiple of 11 or 0 total coins. (0,11,22,33,44,55,66,77,88,99)
* Then time your flagpole-grab to end on the same number. For example: finish the level with 22 coins and grab the flagpole with 142 left on the timer, or any other time that ends in a 2. If you have 77 coins grab the pole on a time ending in 7 and so on.
* You get a 1up! This can be done in any level in the game — except the castles of course. |
