The skulls are an interesting and fun, challenging part of Halo 3. On one hand, they provide a penalty to make the game more challenging, while also adding a point multiplier while playing in the Meta-Game. 9 of the skulls are colored gold, these will give you an achievement. There are also 4 silver skills, they do not unlock any achievements nor do they have penalties, but rather weird bonuses... In order to obtain the skulls in Halo 3, you must start the corresponding mission for the skull.

  • Skulls can only be activated from the campaign options menu.
  • The skulls are listed in the order they appear in the game.

Blind

Shoot from the hip.

Mission: Sierra 117
Color: Silver
Effect: Camera perspective is at hip level. You have no cross-hair and your gun is not visible either.

Location: Just as the Phantom passes overhead, a marine will let you know, hug the rocks along the path to the right. At the cliff, jump down to the rocky part and pick up the skull by holding .

Iron

Death carries a heavy price...

Mission: Sierra 117
Color: Gold
Effect: In Co-Op when one player dies, both players restart at last check point. When you die in single player you will restart the level.
Points Multiplier: 3

Location: Once you make it to the Sarge in the cell with a bunch of other marines, go outside and hop on to the roof. Do this before you free the Sarge and his troops. From the roof jump to the pipes to get on the ledge. Follow the ledge left, going around two corners where you will find the skull. Pick it up by holding .

Black Eye

Bash your way to better health.

Mission: Crow's Nest
Color: Gold
Effect: The only way to regenerate health is to score melee hits.
Points Multiplier: 1.5

Location: At the beginning of the level walk up the ramp to the higher level, heading to the door. Now turn around and jump on top of the racks. From the top of the racks, jump to the red metal Scaffolding then to the ventilation where the skull is on, at the end.
