The skulls are an interesting and fun, challenging part of Halo 3. On one hand, they provide a penalty to make the game more challenging, while also adding a point multiplier while playing in the Meta-Game. 9 of the skulls are colored gold, these will give you an achievement. There are also 4 silver skills, they do not unlock any achievements nor do they have penalties, but rather weird bonuses...
Notes:
- The difficulty must be on normal or higher for these skulls to actually appear in the levels.
- In order to obtain the skulls in Halo 3, you must start from the beginning of the corresponding mission for that skull.
- Skulls can only be activated from the campaign options menu.
- The skulls are listed in the order they appear in the game.

Effect: | The only way to regenerate health is to score melee hits. |
Points Multiplier: | 1.5 |
Location: | At the beginning of the level walk up the ramp to the higher level, heading to the door. Now turn around and jump on top of the racks. From the top of the racks, jump to the red metal scaffolding then to the ventilation where the skull is on, at the end. |

Points Multiplier: | 1.5 |
Location: | After you've made it back outside and are able to ride the warhogs, look straight across from you exit, you will see a round building, the skull sits on the roof. Kill all the enemies, but DO NOT DESTROY the wraith in the corner on the upper level, otherwise the skull will disappear. Drive a warthog around back of the building and try to jump from the top of it to the roof. If you can't make it to the top, try to land a Ghost on top of it or grenade jump from the warthog, but use caution. Also take care, as the Wraith will fire from the Plasma Canon at you. Once on top of the building, snag the skull and get outta of there. |
Fog
You’ll miss those eyes in the back of your head.
Mission: | Floodgate |
Color: | Gold |
Effect: | Removes the motion sensor radar. |
Points Multiplier: | 1.5 |
Location: | As the you begin back towards the buildings where the flood just crashed, you will hear a marine yell “There! Over There!” near a ramp, just before all the buildings, DO NOT go any further. Around the ramp is a checkpoint. As the marine is yelling, keep your eyes peeled for a flood jumping from the roof top to the right across to a roof top on the left. That flood has in its hands the Fog skull. You must kill it before it completes its jump. you have to time it perfect, because the skull will become unreachable if it lands on top of the buildings. If you miss or kill it too early or late, just turn around and jump off the cliff, the check point should be just before the flood makes its jump. |
