Controls can be configured in the menu. These are the default controls.

Control Usage
Neutral Dpad Move your character up, down, left, and right.
A Button Attack, talk or interact with people or objects, confirm menu selections, and progress dialogue.
B Button Use a technique, or cancel menu items.
X Button Display the item ring.
Y Button Display menus.
Start Button Display storage.
Select Button Switch characters. Also switches between characters in the menu, such as in the equipment screen.
L Button or R Button When displaying the item ring, press to switch between character rings.
