| Orange Ironknuckles may be the weakest of their kind, but they are still a formidable opponent.  With the ability to swing their sword both high and low, not only will they keep Link on his toes, he can also raise and lower his shield with surprising agility.  You may find it hard to land a sword strike on this armored foe.  It is best to attempt a jumping slash to the head in an effort to trick Ironknuckle.  It is difficult, if not impossible to get behind an Ironknuckle as they rapidly retreat if you approach them.  When not attacking, stay well outside their attack range.

| Goomas are trouble, no matter how strong Link is.  They throw a never ending supply of maces through the air in a parabolic arc.  They will never stop throwing the maces, although they may take a momentary breather.  This is your chance to scoot inside their throwing range and strike at them.  Despite their size, Goomas are light on their feet, and they have a tendency to reel back a few steps when struck, so make sure you move along with them so as not to end up back in the range of their maces.

Revision as of 07:10, 28 September 2008

The enemies that Link encounters in the palace are different from those that he encounters in the outdoors of Hyrule, but many behave in a similar fashion. The enemies which challenge Link differ according to which Palace he explores. One set of enemies can be found in the first, second, and fifth palaces while another set is found in the third, fourth, and sixth palaces. A special set of enemies are exclusive to the Final Palace.

Link will encounter particularly more battle hardened opponents indoors, including sword wielding skeletons, and armored warriors known as Ironknuckles. It is important that Link be on guard against even the weakest enemies, because certain kinds remove more than just health. Getting run through by a Kobold reduces your current experience points by 10. If a Bubble touches Link, his magic will be reduced along with his health.

The following information is provided for each enemy, where available:

  • EXP: The amount of experience points you earn for defeating this enemy.
  • HP: The amount of hit points the enemy has.
  • Power: The base offensive strength this enemy possesses.
  • Drop: An "A" indicates that the enemy will either drop a Blue Potion or a 50 Point Bag. A "B" indicates that the enemy will drop a Red Potion or a 200 Point Bag.

Common to all Palaces

Enemy Name Info Description
Adventure of Link Kobold.png Kobold
  • EXP: 0
  • HP: 1
  • Power: 8
  • Drop: -
Kobolds are among the weakest palace enemies that you will encounter. They share a lot in common with Weak Moblins; they march forward continuously, are extremely easy to kill, are worth no experience points, and actually take 10 points away from you if you get hit by them. They approach at two different speeds. While the faster Kobolds can be leaped over, it's best to strike the slow ones so that you don't risk losing valuable experience points.
Adventure of Link Bot.png Bot
  • EXP: 2
  • HP: 4
  • Power: 16
  • Drop: A
Don't mistake these Bots for their weaker outside brethren; having been trapped inside a Palace, these slimes have become a lot more battle hearty. They have just one more hit point, but they are twice as strong. Be especially careful when Bots jump down off ledges as they have the ability to propel themselves quite far. Bots are not found in the Hidden Palace.
Adventure of Link Ironknuckle Red.png Ironknuckle (Red)
  • EXP: 100
  • HP: 24
  • Power: 48
  • Drop: B
Red Ironknuckles are, of course, a step up in power from the orange variety (see below). Despite the extra effort required to fight Red Ironknuckles, their behavior differs very little from orange ones. They are simply better at raising or lowering their shield to counter Link's attacks. A jumping slash to the head is still the best course of action when facing these warriors. They do not appear in Parapa Palace.
Adventure of Link Ironknuckle Blue.png Ironknuckle (Blue)
  • EXP: 200
  • HP: 56
  • Power: 48
  • Drop: B
Blue Ironknuckles are the strongest of their kind. Blue Ironknuckles possess a sword power much like your own; their swords can emit beams, and more than just one at a time. Blue Ironknuckles will typically send out three or four such beams in an effort to keep Link at bay. Link's shield can block them, but it may be necessary to leap over them in order to get close enough to the sword wielders themselves and strike them down. They do not appear in the Parapa or Midoro Palaces.
Adventure of Link Bubble.gif Bubble
  • EXP: 50
  • HP: 125
  • Power: 8
  • Drop: -
Bubbles are mystical spirits that are caught in the realm of the living. They are capable of draining all manners of life energy from their victims, so they not only drain health, but magic power as well. Bubbles move at two different speeds. The slow ones are easy to avoid, but the fast Bubbles move at a terrific speed. Striking them with your sword renders them motionless and harmless for half of a second. During that time, you can move through them without harm. But they have an incredibly high amount of vitality, that it's normally not worth the effort it takes to kill them.
Adventure of Link Ra.png Ra
  • EXP: 20
  • HP: 56
  • Power: 8
  • Drop: A
The Ra are floating heads of dragon statues. They float through palace hallways in the pattern of a sine wave, typically at Link's current height when they appear on the screen. They are not a tremendous threat to Link, but they tend to appear continuously in certain passageways in large numbers. They are also quite sturdy and difficult to remove quickly. It is best to avoid them all together. They are not found in Parapa Palace.
Adventure of Link Mau.png Mau
  • EXP: 0
  • HP: 3
  • Power: 16
  • Drop: A
The Mau statue heads may seem similar to the Ra statue heads, but they are in fact quite different. They move in more of a square wave motion; moving forward, then down a little, forward, then back up a little, and so on. They are also considerably weaker and are easily destroyed but grant no experience points. They are capable of firing slow beam projectiles at Link, which are only half has damaging as contact with the head itself. Note that such beams may also be emitted from stationary Ra and Mau statue heads connected to the walls as well. They do not appear in Parapa Palace or Midoro Palace.
Adventure of Link Myu.png Myu
  • EXP: 5
  • HP: 3
  • Power: 16
  • Drop: A
More of an annoyance than anything else, these small spiky creatures can be found inside the palaces as well. Once you know the downward thrust technique, they should pose little threat to you at all. They do not appear in Parapa Palace or Midoro Palace.

Parapa, Midoro, and Ocean Palaces

Enemy Name Info Description
Adventure of Link Stalfos Red.png Stalfos (Red)
  • EXP: 20
  • HP: 8
  • Power: 16
  • Drop: B
Red Stalfos are the skeletons which guard the hallways of Parapa Palace. They hold a shield to their chest which is quite capable of absorbing high attacks, but they're not too careful about protecting their legs. Crouching slashes will always hit, but keep an eye out for their sword attacks as well!
Adventure of Link Stalfos Blue.png Stalfos (Blue)
  • EXP: 50
  • HP: 12
  • Power: 16
  • Drop: B
Blue Stalfos replace the red ones in the Midoro and Ocean Palaces. They can take a few more hits and they even know the ability of the downward thrust. You must be especially to careful to evade this attack when they jump up in the air. Other than that, the same strategy of slashing at the legs should suffice.
Adventure of Link Ironknuckle Orange.png Ironknuckle (Orange)
  • EXP: 50
  • HP: 16
  • Power: 24
  • Drop: B
Orange Ironknuckles may be the weakest of their kind, but they are still a formidable opponent. Not only will they keep Link on his toes with the ability to swing their sword both high and low, but they can also raise and lower their shields with surprising agility.
Adventure of Link Gooma.png Gooma
  • EXP: 50
  • HP: 16
  • Power: 24
  • Drop: B
Goomas are trouble, no matter how strong Link is. They throw a never-ending supply of maces through the air in a parabolic arc.
Adventure of Link Bagobago.png Bagobago
  • EXP: 5
  • HP: 3
  • Power: 8
  • Drop: A
The enchanted fish skeletons that can be found hanging around Hyrule's bridges and caves can also be found inside the lava portions of the Ocean Palace. They behave exactly the same, but by the time you encounter them indoors, you should be quite familiar with how to deal with them.
Adventure of Link Octorok Blue.png Octorok (Blue)
  • EXP: 20
  • HP: 12
  • Power: 16
  • Drop: A
Another familiar face from the outside, some Blue Octoroks have managed to make their way inside the Palaces and make their home there. They still have the same ability to fire rocks at Link from their snout. Just as with the outdoor variety, there are two kinds; the stationary kind, and the ones that like to advance. The stationary kind can only be found in Midoro Palace, but the moving kind can be found in the Midoro and Ocean Palaces.
Adventure of Link Moa Fire.png Moa (Fire)
  • EXP: 50
  • HP: 16
  • Power: 48
  • Drop: A
The Fire Moa is a special kind of Moa that is only found in the Midoro and Ocean Palace. In addition to being a dangerous floating spirit, they all "cry" tears of flame. As they cross overhead, balls of flame drip from their eye and land on the ground, remaining in place until they ultimately burn out. They have a tendency to fly quite high off the ground, so they are difficult to kill.
Adventure of Link Margo.png Margo
  • EXP: 200
  • HP: 32
  • Power: 48
  • Drop: -
The Margo are a clan of witches who wield the power of fire, and are only found in the Ocean Palace. They are also quite adept at teleportation, but use of these magics have made them weak and unable to evade a threat. Their favorite method of attack is to teleport in front or behind a target, throw a ball of magic along the floor, and disappear before the target has a chance to retaliate. However, at 200 experience points per kill, it is well worth the effort to remove these stationary enemies as long as they remain tangible.
