You can customize the look of your character by outfitting him or her with different accessories. The main categories of accessories are Hat, Glasses and the catch-all Other. You can purchase these items in Accessory Shops, make your own, get them from enemies or acquire them in a special way. You can wear one accessory in each category. To select your wardrobe, enter the Inventory section in the menu and select Accessories. Select a piece of attire in each category and your dog will be displayed wearing it.
Each village on The Dog Island has two shops, an Item Shop and an Accessory Shop. The Item Shop sells consumable, health-related items like Medicinal Herbs and Antidotes. Both have different items in the windows of their shops. The quick way to note which is which, is to remember that the accessory shop has a Guitar on display. Each Accessory Shop sells some items which can't be found anywhere else on the island. However, all shops will carry the New Products you create.

New Products
The Dog Island also has a creation system for accessories. New accessories are produced by combining two or more existing items. The items used fall into four categories:
Accessories bought in shops
Accessories previously created by you
Normal items you either find or win in the mini-games
Butterflies
Talk with Hope in Malshige's Shop in Pupsville to create new products. You must have all necessary items in your personal inventory in order to make a new accessory. After you have completed a New Product, it will be available for purchase at any Accessory Shop on The Dog Island.
Enemies throughout the island will drop certain items if you can perform a full howl on them by holding down for the longest period of time. Sometimes they will drop useful Tools to keep your health up, and other times they will drop accessories that you can't find anywhere else. Each accessory is only found in a specific area, but it can be any animal in the area that drops it. It's a random chance whether any of the enemies will have the item you're looking for, so if you howl at all of them and don't find it, just run out of the area and back in to reset.
These hats are acquired by completing Collector books. Check in with the Collectors in Pupsville to see what they need. As you go through the game you'll find more and more places to collect items. As you complete the books you'll get Anc Water for finishing different sections and you'll be rewarded with a special hat for completing the whole thing. Even after you've given them a certain item, go ahead and bring them more because they'll give you a Woof for each one.
