The Dog Island/Walkthrough

If you saw the Getting Started article, you have seen that for this walkthrough we have used a Black Labrador named Blackie.

At the beginning of the game, Blackie wakes up on his bed, and goes over to his mother, Mar. She will say good morning to him, and your sister, and then she will say that they don't have any milk. She asks you to go to the milk store to get some milk for them. So, go out of the house, and she will tell you to be careful. Go down to the centre with the fountain by it, and you will see Enzo the milkman with a question mark over his head.

Find the Basket

If you go and talk to Enzo, he will say that his nephew was helping him, but now Enzo has lost his basket. He will tell you what it smells like, and you memorize the smell. Hold down and walk around the fountain, and you should find the basket not far off. Shake the Wii remote and Blackie will dig up the basket. Take it back to enzo, and we will thank you, and give you a woof. Then he will say that you should be getting back home because otherwise your mother will be wondering where you are. Blackie will offer to take the milk for him. Go back up to your house, and go inside.

Your sister will ask if she can go to the Puroro Town festival with Blackie, and her mother will say that she can as long as she drinks the milk, and her condition doesn't get any worse.

But, that night, her condition gets worse and she cannot go to the festival. Blackie's mother tells him to go and enjoy the festival. When he goes out the house his friends are waiting for him, and ask him why he looks so sad, because it's festival night! he doesn't say anything, but the three friends look up, and there are falling stars going across the sky. Donatello sees them too, she says that falling stars are a sign that trouble is coming, she hopes nothing bad happens.

That trouble is in the name of Maria. While Mar is asleep, she creeps out the house to go to the festival.

The Treasure Hunt

You will see Gustavo, the Flat Coated Retriever, standing by the fountain with a question mark over his head. Go and talk to him, and he will tell you about the treasure hunt. You need to find three spiral shells hidden in Puroro town, and he will tell you what a spiral shell smells like. He is about to say go, when he spots your sister.

Maria tells Blackie that she followed him, because she wanted to go to the festival. He growls at her, so she tells him that she's just going to watch the treasure hunt, then go back inside. So, they continue with the contest.

The first spiral shell is buried close by, in the lane near the houses at the side. The second one is down the lane to the docks and near Donatello. The final shell if by your friends at the other end of the dock. Now you have all three shells, go back and see Gustavo.

Blackie has won the prize, a bunch of flowers. Amedio asks what you are going to do with them, and Vivianna says that it's obvious that he's going to give them to his sick little sister. She runs around shouting 'yaaaaaaaay', but her barking turns into whimpering as she slows down, and collapses. The music changes, and El Dorado carries Maria back home.

The Doctor looks at Maria, and tells Mar that she's not going to get any better than she is now. But then, he remembers hearing about a Dr. Potan who lives on The Dog Island. But, Maria can't travel to The Dog Island in her state, so there is nothing they can do. But, Blackie steps in and wants to go to The Dog Island to save his sister. Mar finally makes up her mind and tells Blackie he can go to The Dog Island, although there are terrible storms around there, and many boats have sunk just trying to get there. It's a dangerous job.

El Dorado agrees to take Blackie to The Dog Island in his ship, and he goes home to get ready.

The next morning, Mar and Maria will wish you luck going to The Dog Island, and you need to go out of the front door to continue. Blackie takes one last look at his house, then goes down to the docks. On the way he passes Donatello. 'Shooting stars are a sign that trouble is coming. Be careful' she says, before Blackie goes to start on his journey to The Dog Island.
