The Cicada is a slow moving air assault ship with moderate armor that can do a lot of damage if it is allowed to stay in the air.

It features a rocket attack that can send up to 16 rockets firing at a single target. It is not very maneuverable, and its size and speed make it a fairly easy target in the air.

If only one player is operating it, that player can switch between the pilot and co-pilot seat by pressing the 1 and 2 keys. The Cicada will hover in place if the pilot switches to the co-pilot seat. It will descend to the ground if all riders eject.

Movement[edit]

Normal movement keys are usable from the pilot position to move forward, backward, left or right. The jump key held down causes it to rise, and the crouch key held down causes it to descend.

Primary Fire[edit]

Pilot[edit]

Primary fire for the pilot is a rocket-launcher that sends air-to-surface rockets down to the target in a slow but steady stream.

Co-Pilot[edit]

Primary fire for the co-pilot is a laser turret with a fast rate of fire.

Secondary Fire[edit]

Pilot[edit]

Secondary fire for the pilot marks a target for a sustained rocket-burst. As long as the secondary fire is held, the target remains marked and a sequence of rockets loads up for launch. Up to 16 rockets will be loaded, and the loading progress can be monitored on the HUD. When the secondary fire is released, all rockets that have been loaded up to that point will fire out and home in on the marked target.

Co-Pilot[edit]

Secondary fire for the co-pilot fires a flare, which acts as chaff for incoming AVRiL rockets and can prevent them from hitting you.

Strategies & Tactics[edit]

  • Use the secondary fire to target a node or enemy power core, then duck behind cover such as a mountain or wall to prevent being targeted yourself; time it so you pop out into view again when your rockets have loaded to fire
  • If you are the only player in the Cicada, and you get the message that a rocket is homing in on you, press the 2 key to pop into the gunner's chair and fire a flare using the alt-fire to distract the rocket
