Master Quest was originally an expansion to Ocarina of Time planned for Nintendo's ill-fated Nintendo 64 Disk Drive (64DD) addon. When the 64DD failed in Japan, Nintendo cancelled the release of Master Quest. As time went on the nearly complete game sat wasted and unplayed. Nintendo decided to change this when they announced that they were bringing Ocarina of Time to the Gamecube along with the legendary Master Quest, and would be offering both as part of a special preorder campaign for Zelda: The Wind Waker.

Master Quest remixes the original dungeons present in Ocarina of Time and makes them much more difficult to complete. However outside of the dungeons nothing has changed, and many of the secrets and collectibles are in the same places they were in Ocarina of Time. The only way to obtain this game at present is the special preorder disk for the Gamecube. Although the discs are clearly labeled as "not for resale" game retailers still regularly buy and sell used copies of the game.

We will have a specially written Master Quest guide located here.
