In the Nahuatla city, any Nahuatla woman also explains how to get clay and turn it into pots. Also, the weaver Paxaptamac will reveal that yucca flax can be woven into cloth.

Trees, yucca plants and river banks are easy to find. Other natural sources are more rare:

  • Tar pits: between Kurak village and the laboratory;
  • Sulfur pits: east of the Nahuatla city, just follow the road;
  • Crystal gardens: in most caves.

The following table shows how to craft grenades with the help of Dr. Rafkin. Some other ingredients are available in small quantities only. Later you can get more.

Gunpowder Grenade

Ingredients:

  • branch ("use" any tree) or black jar (in laboratory)
  • potassium nitrate (from crystals in caves) or white jars (in laboratory)
  • sulfur pits (east of Nahuatla city) or yellow jars (in laboratory)

Tools:

  • campfire or firepit (in most villages)
  • wire screen (in the laboratory)
  • mortar (in the laboratory and in many villages) or grinding stone (in most villages)

Procedure 1 (early game):

  1. [U]se a tree: get a branch
  2. [U]se a campfire on the branch: get charcoal (you need at least 12 parts)
  3. [M]ove the 18 charcoal parts out from the black jar
  4. [M]ove the 30 sulfur parts out from the yellow jars
  5. [M]ove the 30 potassium nitrate parts out from the white jars
  6. [D]rop 30 parts of charcoal, 30 of sulfur and 30 of nitrate on a mortar (or grinding stone)
  7. [U]se the mortar, [L]ook in it, [G]et 30 parts of gunpowder

Procedure 2:

  1. [U]se a tree: get a branch
  2. [U]se a campfire on the branch: get charcoal
  3. East from the Nahuatla city, [U]se wire screen facing a sulfur pit: get sulfur
  4. In a cave, if Rafkin or Johann is in the party, [U]se a crystal garden: get potassium nitrate.
  5. [D]rop the same amount of charcoal, sulfur and nitrate on a mortar (or grinding stone)
  6. [U]se the mortar, [L]ook in it, [G]et gunpowder

Ingredients:

  • 5 units of gunpowder
  • yucca plants (or flax, or cloth, or strips)
  • river banks (or clay, or soft clay pot, or fired clay pot)
  • tar pits (between the laboratory and Kurak village)

Tools:

  • kiln or firepit (in most villages)
  • knife (start) or scissors (in laboratory)
  • metal bucket (in laboratory)
  • digging stick
  • loom (in Nahuatla city)

Procedure 1 (early in the game):

  1. [U]se an oven on the soft clay pot to turn it into a fired clay pot.
  2. [U]se a knife or scissors on a cloth to get some cloth strips.
  3. [U]se the metal bucket on the tar pits to get about 5L of tar.
  4. [U]se the tar on the strips to get tarred cloth strips.
  5. If you have 5 units of gunpowder, [U]se the tarred cloth strips on the fired clay pot to get a grenade.

Procedure 2:

  1. Fired clay pots:
    1. [U]se a digging stick on a river bank: get clay.
    2. [U]se the clay: get a soft clay pot.
    3. [U]se a kiln on the soft clay pot: get a fired clay pot.
  2. Tarred cloth strips:
    1. [U]se a yucca plant: get flax
    2. [U]se a loom on flax: get cloth
    3. [U]se scissors or knife on cloth: get cloth strips
    4. [U]se the metal bucket on the tar pits: get about 5L of tar.
    5. [U]se the tar on the strips: get tarred cloth strips.
  3. Put together:
    • If you have 5 units of gunpowder, [U]se the tarred cloth strips on the fired clay pot to get a grenade.

In order to make torches you need:

  1. Tree branches: [U]se any tree;
  2. Tar: [U]se a bucket near a tar pit; the nearest ones are north-east of the Nahuatla city and near the laboratory;
  3. Flax: [U]se a yucca plant.

Procedure:

  1. use a loom on 1 flax, and turn it into 1 cloth;
  2. use scissors on 1 cloth, and turn it into 10 cloth strips;
  3. use tar bucket on 10 cloth strips, and turn them into 10 tarred strips;
  4. use 1 tarred strip on 1 tree branch, and turn it into a torch.

Looms can be found in many villages, e.g. in the Jukari village and in the Nahuatla city.
