Select controller:You've now beaten three bosses. Your last direction to go to is the east, so grab your trusty horse (you'll need it) and get going.
After jumping over a bunch of fences, you'll see that a large cliff prevents progress. Your only option is to follow the passage to the left...
Ikana Graveyard
The Ikana Graveyard is where the souls of the kingdom of Ikana rest. Go right to the very back and you'll notice a large skull. Play the Sonata of Awakening to enter a battle...
Mini-boss: Skull Keeta
Skull Keeta runs away, and your job is to follow him. On the way, flame walls will stop your progress, and you'll need to kill the Stalchildren to progress. You can shoot Fire Arrows at Skull Keeta to stun him shortly. Once you slash him once, the real battle starts. He will either try to attack you directly, or attempt to jump onto you. Slash him any way you like and he should be defeated soon.
Once he is defeated, the flames around the treasure chest at the top will disappear. Use your Hookshot to get to the chest and open it to claim the Captain's Hat.
Beneath the Graveyard
You need it to be the first night. Once you're there, go to the graveyard. You'll see a group of Stalchildren walk around a grave. Put on your Captain's Hat and you'll be able to speak to them, command them to open the grave and then jump in.
Once there, follow the straightforward path and you'll come across a room full of bats. Dispose of them any way you like and a chest will appear (it contains 50 Rupees). To open the door, light up the three torches with Fire Arrows. In the next room you'll have to battle an Iron Knuckle. His axe hurts a lot, so avoid it at all costs! Evade his attack, slash at it, get away, rinse and repeat. After a while his armor will fall off. In this stage you might find it the easiest to simply stab him repeatedly. A few more slashes will get rid of him for once and for all. If all this is too difficult, bombs work against this guy as well.
Once the Iron Knuckle is gone, Flat, one of the Composer Brothers, will appear. Read his tombstone to learn the Song of Storms:
At this point, you still cannot get to Ikana Canyon. You're missing one last important item...
Gorman Bros' Racetrack
Get back to Milk Road, and follow the road that branches off to the left. Talk to the Gorman Bros' on horseback and they will challenge you to a race for 10 rupees. The race itself is rather straightforward and shouldn't be hard. If you do win, you get the Garo's Mask.
Now, return to the valley, go to the large cliff and put on the Garo's Mask. The wandering spirit will make a tree appear which you can use your Hookshot on to get to Ikana Canyon. Put off the Garo's Mask afterwards unless you like perpetual mini-boss battles. Simply follow the path avoiding the large boulders until you arrive...
Ikana Canyon
Go forward and you'll see two Octoroks. Use your Ice Arrows to make them serve as stepping stones to the other side of the river. Afterwards, hookshot your way to the top. At the top you'll find an Owl Statue to activate. Around here you'll also find Tingle, where you can buy a map for 20 Rupees. Follow the dried-up river to a cave...
Spring Water Cave
Walk forward and you'll meet Sharp, the other Composer Brother, who tries to put you to eternal sleep... Simply play the Song of Storms and he is history. This will also fill up the cave and make the river flow again and, in turn, kill all the Gibdos outside!
Back outside, you'll want to sneak in the Music Box House. If you have the Stone Mask waltz right in, otherwise, lure the child away (you can use bombs for this) and get inside. Walk downstairs and you'll see a scary half-mummy monster! But don't worry... Play the Song of Healing and he will be uncursed. Pamela will rush in to reunite with her father. You'll also get the Gibdo Mask!
Well
When you enter the well, the doors are barred and guarded by Gibdos. To pass through, you need an item that they demand.
- First room: Blue potion (north) or 5 magic beans (east). Beans may be purchased from the swamp deku scrub, and the blue potion can be purchased from the magic hag's potion shop after finding the mushroom with the mask of scents.
- 1 East: 10 deku nuts (east), or a bottled fish (north)
- 2 East: 10 bombs (north), or hot spring water (east)
- 1 North: Fish (west), or water (north)
- 1 East 1 North: Bug (west), or a big ghost (north)
- 2 North: Bug (east or north)
- 1 East 2 North: Milk (you'll find a cow in the well, but you can also buy the milk in the ranch where you have found garo's mask, for 50 rupees)
Item locations:
- Hot spring water is located 1 north and 1 west.
- A cow is located 3 east, who can provide milk if necessary.
- Big Poe is located 2 east, 1 north.
In the final room in the north east, light all four torches and get the Mirror Shield. Use the Mirror shield to reflect the light beams onto the sun icons on the two walls.
Ancient Castle of Ikana
With the mirror shield, you can now use a small hole beside the castle's front gate to remove the sun block. The light reflected by the mirror shield will also destroy some enemies.
If you do not already have a powder keg, purchase one from Clock Town.
Enter the castle, and head through the left door (after melting the left pillar switch). Strike the crystal switch, switch to Deku form and dive into a Deku Flower near the raised switch and wait. Once the ceiling reaches the ground, jump out to force it back up. Dive in again, and reach the switch. Revert to normal form to unbar the door.
In the next room, use the lens of truth to see how to reach the switch in the nearby corner. Stand on it, and shoot down the Skulltulas. Jump across to the other side of the room and pass through the door. Note that falling down will cause the room to reset, requiring you to press the switch again.
Proceed up the stairs. From the roof, you have access to a Piece of Heart to the side of the castle by shooting a switch and using Deku Flowers, but you will have to go through the castle again. To proceed, climb and walk along the outer ledge to the front. Dive into a deku flower, and reach the floor switch to open a hold in the ceiling.
Return into the castle, and take the right door, by shooting the appropriate wall switch. Use the mirror shield to reflect light onto the sun block, and pass through to the next room to fight a Wizrobe.
As with the other Wizrobes, you need to hit him when he exits his stand. However, he will return if you are too close when he is coming out. When he is wounded, he will create decoys to distract you; however, his correct location is shown as a red dot on the minimap.
Head up the stairs and put a powder keg in the cracked floor in the middle. Jump into the hole and walk into the main corridor to speak with the king.
To defeat the king, you need burn the curtains blocking the light, knock down the two guards with your sword, and reflect the light onto the solders. Repeat the same procedure for the king, however, he will occasionally split his head from the main body, allowing him to attack even when you are standing in the lit area.
Once defeated, he will teach you the Elegy of Emptiness:
Proceed to the stone tower.
Places of Interest
- The Buisiness Scrub will sell Blue Potions for 100 rupees each. He is located on the right, before the river. If given the Ocean Land Title, you will receive 200 Rupees, and he'll move to the flower in Zora Hall, allowing Deku Link to use his old flower to fly to a Piece of Heart.
- In the Ikana Graveyard, if you open and enter the grave on the second night. You can still reach a Piece of Heart. After jumping in, use the lens of truth to reveal a hidden door. In the next room, monsters and some floors are invisible, and need the lens of truth to see. At the end, you should see a small room with a weak wall that can be bombed. Blast it open and enter the final room. Battle the Iron Knuckle to obtain the Piece of Heart.
