needcontrols

This page needs images of controls for the Wii from the controller buttons category to make learning the controls easier. If a set of controller button images is available for this system, please add them. If a set of controller images isn't available, it might need to be brought up on StrategyWiki:Staff lounge.

The game has the same old Battalion Wars 1 Units but also now have the Dreadnought, Battleship, Frigate and the Submarine units.

Infantry

Easy to control units. All infantry can capture buildings, man defenses and swim temporarily but fragile so any bazooka rocket, bomb, shell etc can do serious damage to them. All infantry can man MG nests, AA Towers, RPG Towers and any defense they found. If the tower is destroyed so does the infantry unit inside it.

Grunt

Good in numbers, perfect for infantry, great for capturing structures and weak against tanks.

In nearly all of the missions these units are used as friendly and an enemy unit.

To capture buildings or just jump, shake the Nunchuk button upwards.

Bazooka Vets

Elite troopers meant for tanks, any enemy defense tower and most ground foes. Uncharged shots are easily dodged by all infantry.

Hold down the B Button for a charged shot. Charge shots do more damage and has longer range.

Introduced as a single enemy where the Solar Empire must protect the AA vehicle from a single Bazooka Vet but later fought as a common foe.

Anti Air Vet

Elite anti air troops that can down all aircraft in seconds but ineffective against ground foes.

Introduce because AA Vehicles are quite bulky at small spaces and Frigates are AA only at the sea.

Even for good anti air unit the unit can be easily be killed by Gunships and Bombers if used improperly.

Also hold down the B Button to launch a salvo of Rockets. The more charged the shot is the more missiles the gun fires.

Flame Vets

Soldiers that are very effective against infantry even if they are behind sandbags. Hold down the B Button to keep on continuous burning.

Expect Tanks are effective against them.

Assault Vets

Elite Troopers that are ideal against light vehicles and infantry.

Empress Qa-Len points out these Vets are elite troopers.

Hold down the B Button for Rapid fire Attacking with the Assault Rifle but don’t let the guns overheat.

First introduced in Mission 3 but later fought more often and finally Grunts are used more often than these troopers.

Mortar Vet

Good for attacking light vehicles and infantry in cover.

Lord Ferrok claims these troopers were his personal honor vanguards.

Introduced in the Flashback campaign where these troops are used for sandbags.

Same as Bazooka Vet. Hold down the B button to do a charge shot and do more damage. The more charged the shot is the more range and damage the shot does.

Munitions Expert

In some missions expect these troopers to be protected because these guys set bombs on things.

Cleanup Soldier

Colonel Windsor uses these troopers to cleanup messes. Same as Grunts only with cleaning tools.

Staff Bearer

The strongest trooper. This unit carries a magical staff that provides a shield and supercharges his rifle. Same as a Grunt only with a staff. Weapon is same as Assault Vets only the gun can destroy anything even Battlestations.

Vehicles

Controlling Vehicles is the same as infantry. Use the Nunchuk Control stick to move forward or backward. Point the Wii Remote to look around. Use the B Button to fire but tanks do not rapid fire with their main cannons. Also Vehicles can't capture or jump and must avoid the deep waters because vehicles take damage in the water. Vehicles get destroyed if they go into deep water but infantry can temporarily swim in water. Tanks are not as fast as Infantry and if their health is at least 5% it will catch on fire and burn till it blows up.

Light Tank

Light Tanks are annoying foes

The standard tanks of most armies except the Iron Legion. Fragile against Heavy tanks and killed in one shot by Battlestations.

First Introduce in Mission 2 as a foe but latter on a common enemy and controllable unit in future campaigns.

Always use the Light tank for certain situations like use them to attack Anti Air Vehicles.

Recon

Fast and armed with chainguns.

Introduced in the 4th Mission of the Solar Empire Campaign where they must be used to destroy 3 missile silos. Not very useable often because of its armour and firepower.

Controlling these vehicles are to hard especially when it went to fast.

The Recon replaces the Heavy Recon and the Light Recon for without a reason.

Heavy Tank

A more powerful version of the Light tank but slower and weak to Bazooka Vets.

Lord Ferrok used these tanks as the standard tank division because the Iron Legion does not have a light tank but the Heavy tank is available to all factions.

Introduce in Mission two where it is seen bombed by a bomber when Pierce captures the Docks. A tough foe and more common enemy and rarely used.

AA Vehicle

BW2.AntiAir.jpg

Used for aircraft but all ground foes like Bazooka Vets are a threat to it.

In the campaign the Solar Empire used the AA Vehicle a lot.

Introduce in Mission 1 where it must be protected so they can shoot bombers down with.

Lock on to Aircraft with the Z Button so that the AA Missiles can hit the enemy aircraft but fail to lock on to aircraft results in the missiles miss their target. Also watch out for Bombers and Gunships that fly low or to fast.

Artillery

Foes that must be dealt with up close or from the air. These units are effective against Naval Units and most targets that don’t come up close or that are aircraft.

Used by all factions including the Anglo Isles.

Introduce in Solar Empire Mission 3 where two of them must be destroyed.

Battlestations

Sometimes usable by the player. Sometimes missions require that the Battlestation not be destroyed or the mission will fail. Expect the tank to be slow. It is armed with many guns for tanks and infantry. Good armour but watch out for bombers and gunships.

Introduced in the Prologue Mission where the Staff Bearer must destroy one and in a flashback campaign the player used it against all ground forces. In the last mission it must not be destroyed.

Naval Units

Naval units only travel the sea. The Iron Legion does not have any navy but the Solar Empire claims they had a mighty fleet. Naval units are new in Battalion Wars 2.

Battleship

BW2.Battleship.jpg

Commander! Let me introduce you to the pride of the Imperial Navy! MY PERSONAL BATTLESHIP!! Protect it at all cost!

A-Qira

Powerful ships that got heavy armour and long range cannons but hates submarines.

First introduced in Solar Empire Mission 5 Repelling the Enemy but latter fought as a foe a couple times.

The player finds it easier to control all naval units if they change camera view with the C Button.

Dreadnought

These heavy versions of the Battleship are always weak against submarines, but are much stronger than Battleships in all other aspects.

A Marshal claims the TTS Potemkin is the Tundras all conquering Dreadnought.

Submarine

Torpedo and Machine gun armed craft. It can go underwater making it unable to be attacked by any unit except for frigates who can destroy it with depth charges. A fragile unit.

First introduction in Anglo Isles Campaign Mission 2.

Shake the nunchuk Downward to dive and avoid being seen by everything but subs and frigates.

Frigate

Fires Dept charges against subs and AA missiles at aircraft

When the Player targets and attack a Submerged sub it fires a dept charge instead of its regular AA Missile but if fires at aircraft with its AA missile.

Naval Transport

Heavy armoured and armed with machine guns. Used to transport units like light tanks. They often need protection.

Aircraft

Air units have weak armour (Mostly fighters and Gunships) but flies very fast. Anti air fire of any kind can shoot them down and expect aircraft will crash if they bump into things like rocks. Point the Wii Remote up and down to control altitude.

Fighters

BW2.Fighter.jpg

These aircraft are good against all aircraft and do barrel rolls against missiles.

Used by all factions but mostly the Anglo Isles. Weak armoured and also got machine guns.

Turn the Wii Remote left or right to turn fighters and bombers but tilt the Nunchuk and the Remote at the same time to do barrel rolls which dodge missile lock.

Air Transport

Air Transports are used to carry units by air. Carries even light tanks and has machine guns. Enemy Air Transports are critical enemies as if they are shot down before they land means its cargo gets killed as well.

Bombers

These units are perfect for ground foes.

Introduce in Mission 1 as slow foes for AA vehicles but latter missions where bombers proven to be quite powerful.

Always use the C button to see your bombing runs and again with all air units fly low to dodge missiles and don’t crash them.

Also in some missions these planes are critical against certain situations like enemy Battleships.

Gunship

BW2.Gunship.jpg

Is that so General? Lets see how they do against my GUNSHIPS!

Gorgi

There are two types of gunships. Propeller Gunships and the VTOL Gunships. Both type of Gunships perform the same role.

Good against all Ground (Including Battlestations), Naval(Gunships do low damage against Battleships) and Infantry units but weak to fighters and AA units.

Introduced as a foe but appeared as a playable unit and common foe in latter campaigns especially when Gorgi, A-Qira, Empress Qa Len, Ubel and Kaiser Vlad attempts to harass the Players Battalion with Gunships.

Gunships are more formidable foes than Bombers because Bombers were slow targets and easy to shoot down and the Gunship is faster.

Point the Wii Remote up to move up and Point it down to go down but don't crash them because Aircraft are fragile.

Lock on to an enemy target with the Z button to be able to get an accurate shot off of it but fail to lock on to an enemy target result in the missiles might miss their target.

Strato Destroyers

Artwork for Strato Destroyer

Armed with Missiles for air, guns for all targets and bombs for ground but Not usable by the player.

Own by the Western Frontier and Xylvania but the Western Frontier rarely uses them and introduced as an enemy in the final mission.

Defense Structures

  • MG Towers and MG Nests: armed with only Machine Guns but a CO claims that MG Towers have a blind spot beneath them.
  • RPG Towers: work against tanks but beware of Battlestation Super Tanks and Bazooka Vets.
  • AA Towers: cause trouble for aircraft, especially gunships.
  • Sea Forts: cause problems at sea with AA guns and RPG Towers but Battleships are perfect for these enemy forts.
  • Forcefield Generators: block movement for only ground units. Aircraft can fly over them.
  • Sandbags: cover points for infantry and defense against small arms fire. Mortar, Tanks, artillery and aircraft are perfect against them.
  • Naval Guns: guns used for defense against ships. They are vulnerable to ground troops and aircraft.
  • Quad Cannons: defenses armed with 4 150mm cannons that do severe damage to enemies including Battleships. In one mission the Quad Cannons must survive because without them the Solar Empire will Overwhelm the Iron Legion.

Facilities

Capture facilities to get reinforcements. Facilities are new in Battalion Wars 2. Also expect the enemy to counter attack if any facility is captured, POWs are freed or even the enemy tries to prevent the player from capturing anything.

  • Barracks: reinforces infantry of all types including Veteran Infantry and Grunts.
  • Helipad: capture them to get more troops. One time only so make use of your reinforcements.
  • POW Camps: free the POWs by shooting the Ammo Dump or crush the fence with any vehicle or explosive weapons even with the Fighters AA Missiles. Again make good use of your reinforcements.
  • HQ: must not be captured by enemies or missions will end in bitter defeat. Provides Grunts.
  • Airbase: reinforces aircraft like Gunships.
  • Docks: reinforces naval units like the Battleship.
  • Factories: always reinforces Tanks and other ground vehicles.
