The Yellow Materia equips new commands to use during battle. Some types of yellow materia will gain new abilities as they mature.

  • Deathblow: An attack with very reduced accuracy, but will do dubble dammage if it conects
  • Double Cut: Has the following abilities:
    • 1. 2x Cut: Attacks two random enemies in succession.
    • 2. 4x Cut: Takes the place of 2x Cut on command list when matured. Attacks four random enemies in succession.
  • Enemy Skill: Learns the following enemy abilites and allows the player to use those abilites once they have been used against him.
    • Angel Whisper: Restores a KO’d comrade to life with full HP and no status ailments.
    • Aqualung: Attacks all opponents for water-elemental damage.
    • Bad Breath: Causes random status effects on all enemies.
    • Beta: Inflicts fire-elemental damage to all enemies.
    • Big Guard: Casts Barrier, Mbarrier, and Haste on all friendly party members.
    • Chocobuckle: Attacks target for damage proportionate to the number of times player’s party has fled from battle.
    • Death Force: Makes target immune from instant Death.
    • Death Sentence: Gives target a sixty second countdown to instant Death.
    • Dragon Force: Increases Vitality and Magic def. stats.
    • Frog Song: Gives target the status effects of Toad and Sleep.
    • Goblin Punch: Deals damage to single enemy. Damage multiplies if target and user are of equal experience level.
    • L4 Suicide: Lowers target’s HP is experience is divisible by four. Also causes Mini.
    • L5 Death: Causes Death on an enemy if its experience is divisible by five.
    • Laser: Halves the HP of a single enemy.
    • Magic Breath: Causes lightning-, ice-, and fire-elemental damage.
    • Magic Hammer: Causes damage to and absorbs up to 100MP from target.
    • Matra Magic: Shoots a magical missile at an enemy.
    • Pandora’s Box: Attacks all enemies for physical damage.
    • ????: Deals physical damage based on amount of damage caster has sustained during that battle.
    • Roulette: Randomly causes Death to an opponent or comrade in battle.
    • Shadow Flare: Attacks all enemies with non-elemental magic damage.
    • Trine: Attacks with lightning-elemental damage.
    • White Wind: Heals all party members for HP based on caster’s HP and restores all status effects.
  • Manipulate: Allows user to control the actions of an opponent plus reduces the opponents dexterity to nil.
  • Mime: Duplicates the last battle action with no MP cost. Can be used on defending character.
  • Morph: Reduces attack power on equipped weapon. Has a chance of turning struck target into an item.
  • Sense: Allows user to see the stats (lvl., HP, MP, etc.) of a target opponent.
  • Slash-All: Has the following abilites:
    • 1. Slash-All: Attacks all opponents simultaneously.
    • 2. Flash: Replaces Slash All on command list when matured. When successful, causes Death to all opponents.
  • Steal: Has the following abilites:
    • 1. Steal: User attempts to steal an item from an opponent.
    • 2. Mug: Takes the place of Steal of the command list when matured. Deals damage to opponent when attempting to steal an item.
  • Throw: Has the following abilites:
    • 1. Throw: Throws an item in inventory for damage.
    • 2. Coin: Throws coins at an enemy for damage. 1,000gil = 100HP of damage.
  • W-Item: Allows user to utilize two items in inventory at once.
  • W-Magic: Allows user to cast two magic spells at once.
  • W-Summon: Allows user to cast two summon spells at once.
