There are several types of enemies in Gauntlet Dark Legacy, however they come in types that are identifiable across realms.
Soldiers
- Zombies
- Ghosts
- Orcs
- Lava Monsters
- Guards
- Knights
- Assassins
- Beholders
- Lizardmen
- Ents
- Nomads
- Mummies
- Miners
- Barbarians
- Mirror Mages
- Skeleton Warriors
- Clones of Garm
- Small Genies
Kamikaze Soldiers
Kamikaze soldiers come in the form of the basic soldier for the realm, but with a red explosive barrel strapped to its back. They are extremely easy to spot, and you'll know they are in the vicinity and ready to attack once you hear their definitive scream.
If you're walking down a hall, back up a little and release a fully charged turbo shot; otherwise, just try to keep a stream of constant fire while you wait for the frenzied creature to rush you.
Creatures
- Maggots
- Scorpions
- Rats
- Slime Creatures
- Spiders
- Cobras
- Wolves
- Ice Worms
- Demons
- Crawling Hands
- Demon Dogs
Generals
Generals are large, tough versions of the regular monsters. They take a while to destroy, but when you do, they drop items. Generals can also block one of your slow attacks.
- Zombie Reaper
- Orc General
- Executioner
- Assassin Captain
- Lizardman Champion
- Sultan
- Barbarian Cheiftan
- Demon Lord
- Skeleton Warrior Legionary
Golems
Like Generals, Golems are large enemies that can take a lot of damage, and drop items when they die.
Cemetery Soil Golem
Rock Golem
Marble Golem
These ones are made of white marble rock. One arm is a hand and the other is a makeshift hammer of rocks wrapped together by rope.
Slime Golem
The Slime Golem has a green, one-eyed body covered in thick metal armour with two mace-like clubs on each hand. Interestingly, idle golems sit inside of giant barrels that blend into the level so be careful.
Wood Golem
Sand Golem
It's made mainly out of sand with an axe for one arm. It has a noticeably dark blue mouth.
Undead Polar Bear
Not technically a golem, because it's an animal rather than a construct, but behaves like one.
Shadow Golem
This golem resembles a silhouette of a tree trunk with spiked arms and a green mouth. These types of golems are semi-invisible and blend into the level's background.
Lava Golem
Battle Golem=
Gargoyles
Gargolyes are large, dragon-like monsters. Like Generals and Golems, they drop items when they die, but the items they drop are golden items. You need a certain number of golden items to get to different areas of Sumners Tower.
Snake Gargoyle
- Drops: Golden Snake Fangs
Eagle Gargoyle
- Drops: Golden Eagle Feathers
Lion Gargoyle
- Drops: Golden Lion Claws
Death
In the levels, the player will sometimes come across one of the most potent enemies: Death. Death appears to be a hovering, robed creature, with a hood that hides its face except for its glowing yellow eyes. There are two kinds of Death. The black robed Death drains your experience, while the red robed Death drains health. There are four ways to drive Death off:
- Hit Death with your weapon 100 times.
- Use magic on Death.
- Find (or purchase) an Anti-Death Halo that allows you to reverse-drain experience or health from Death, corresponding to the color of his robe, just as that particular Death would do to you.
- Let Death drain your health or experience (he vanishes after taking 100 health points or an experience level, for red robed Death and black robed Death respectively).
