Kingdomm Hearts II is a role playing game from a collaberation of Square Enix (famous for the Final Fantasy series) and Disney. Starting with the PS2 exclusive Kingdom Hearts, and the the Game Boy Advance exclusive Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, this is the third game in the series.

It follows the exploits of Sora, an energetic boy from Destiny Islands; Donald, the court magician from Disney Castle, and Goofy, Captain of the castle's army. Other recuring characters include Riku, a boy also from Destiny Islands, who got swallowed up by the darkness; Ansem, who is trying to take control of the worlds, and Namine, a mysterious girl who can change important memories.

Reception

Kingdom Hearts II was generally well-received, garnering positive reviews and sales figures. Within a week of its Japanese release, Kingdom Hearts II sold almost 730,000 copies. The NPD Group reported that Kingdom Hearts II was the highest-selling console game in North America during March 2006 with 614,000 copies. GameStop listed the game as their best-selling title for the first quarter of 2006. The game was also on IGN's "Top 10 Sellers in 2006". As of December 2006, Kingdom Hearts II had shipped over 3.5 million worldwide with 700,000 in PAL regions, 1.1 million in Japan, and 1.7 million in North America.

Although praise was overall good, there were some critisisms noted. IGN greatly critisised the AI system for the enemiesciting it as poor. However, they did praise the story and gameplay overall, and gave it a 7.6/10. GameStop were pleased about the camera and gameplay, but said that the game was far too easy to complete, and that there was loads of uneccessary button mashing.
