Tekken 2 is a one-on-one fighting arcade game, which was released by Namco on August 3, 1995; it runs on that company's System 11 hardware, and as the naming suggests, it is the sequel to Tekken, which got released the previous year. The players must again use an 8-way joystick and four buttons (two for left and right punches and two for left and right kicks) to take up control for two of ten fighters (seven of the eight returning ones from the original game, but Jack has not returned for this one, and has been replaced with Jack II as a result, along with two of three new characters: Lei will always be selectable by default but the selectability of Baek and Jun depends on what the arcade operator has set the "NEW CHARACTER" setting in the game's options menu to) - and a month after the NVRAM has been initialised, the game will begin introducing one new selectable character each week over a period of ten weeks, for a total of twenty-five fighters. However, regardless of how many fighters are currently selectable, players may also enter secret codes with their joysticks and buttons to activate the hidden ones; the game was also later converted for the Sony PlayStation in Japan on March 29, 1996 (and in the United States and European Union on August 25 and in October of that same year respectively!). This version also added four brand-new "Survival", "Time Attack", "Team Battle" and "Practice" modes - however, an arcade-based port for each of the first three games was featured in the 2 version of Tekken 5 in 2005. On December 4, 2006, the game was rereleased on the Network in the United States (but all the multiplayer options were removed from it).
The hidden characters include all eight mini-bosses and Kazuya Mishima from the original (the latter has also become the final opponent for this game), along with either Baek or Jun (based upon which of them the arcade operator has chosen to not be selectable by default), Bruce, Roger, Alex, Angel (who has not been distinguished as a separate character from that aforementioned Alex), and Devil.

Tekken 2 is the second installment in the popular Tekken fighting game series.

On December 4, 2006, the game was rereleased on the PlayStation Network in the United States (but all the multiplayer options were removed from it).
