You start in New Bark town, just like the original. Leave your house after the opening scene where you talk to your mom. You may then talk to Silver outside of Professor Elm's office, or go see Professor Elm & get your 1st Pokémon.  You choose from {{bp|Cyndaquil}}, the fire type, {{bp|Totodile}}, the water type, or {{bp|Chikorita}}, the grass type. Each choice corresponds to a difficulty level, with Cyndaquil being easy, Totodile being medium & Chikorita being hard.
