Where possible, the actual, official enemy names have been used.

Recurring enemies

  • Bikky - A big, shielded hopping robot; it is only vulnerable in the air when its eyes are open. Don't get too close to this one.
  • Bubukan - A weird, pole-vaulting robot which cannot be attacked until it has jumped and lost its pole. Can be defeated easily by firing rapidly when vulnerable, but is still tricky to dodge.
  • Hammer Joe - A green robot that throws olympic-style hammers (ropes on the end of a ball) at you. He is only vulnerable when he opens his eye right before throwing. Fortunately, his hammers are easily slid under, though it can be tricky to get the precise timing down to shoot him.
  • Jamacy - A fast-moving spider that can also climb ladders. Pretty harmless and easily destroyed on normal land, but if you're climbing up a ladder and one is approaching, you could be in trouble. Use the Shadow Blade aimed up if one approaches you on a ladder.
  • Mechakkero - A hopping mechanical frog. Easily killed with a single hit, but their shape means arm cannon shots go right over them. You need to hit them in midair or with a weapon that will hit low, while they are on the ground.
  • Potton - A robot that resembles the Bunby Helis/Bladers from the first Mega Man game, but rather than trying to lash down at you, they drop their head out of a jar and try to hit you with it. Just dodge the falling head and move on, and don't waste time shooting them unless they're within your range. The "empty" jar will continue to fly around, but is harmless unless you touch it.
  • Bolton and Nutton - A strange, interlocking metal robot. They can not be harmed until they have united and begun moving. In many cases it's easier to just keep moving and not stick around to deal with them.
  • Peterchy - A giant eyeball with legs. Has no attacks whatsoever and can easily be destroyed with rapid-fire techniques. Just don't get cornered by them.
  • Pickelman Bull - A Hard Hat piloting a bulldozer-like machine. Can only be destroyed by shooting its head multiple times. Just shoot and destroy from across the room and you should be fine.
  • New Shotman - A strange-looking cylindrical bot that fires 3 shots out to either side in a regular pattern, and fires overhead lobbing shots if one gets too close. Best bet is to destroy it from a distance, if possible. Otherwise, learn the pattern and avoid the shots the best you can.
  • Yambo - A robotic dragonfly that tries to line up and attack you. When he gets to your height, just fire at him rapidly, you should be able to destroy him before he hits you. Otherwise, you can always try to slide or dodge its attack.

Single-stage enemies

Snake Man's stage:
  • Big Snakey - A giant snake-like head, found only in Snake Man's level. It spits 3 fireballs at a time, though if one studies its pattern they can find easy ways to avoid these. Despite his big, menacing appearance, he can be defeated pretty quickly and easily.
  • Bomb Flier - A cloud found only in the latter half of Snake Man's stage. If shot, a bullet-like robot comes out and dashes towards you. Best bet is to not bother shooting the cloud and just avoid them altogether.
  • Dada - A weird hopping robot that appears only in Snake Man's stage. One shot easily kills it, but its erratic movement sometimes makes it hard to hit.
  • Petit Snakey - A small snake head. They shoot out one shot in a synchronized pattern. Just dodge and fire a few shots, they don't take much effort to destroy.
Top Man's stage:
  • Komasaburo - A robot that shoots tops at Mega Man. Not too touch to beat, although his biggest strength is usually his position; he can rain tops down from higher ledges. Best bet is to destroy the tops that get in your way and fire away, as rapidly as possible.
  • Tama - A giant cat that throws yarn balls and robotic fleas. Dodge the yarn balls (they can be destroyed, anyway) and just fire at the cat rapidly. It usually goes down pretty fast.
Shadow Man's stage(s):
  • Hologran - An orb that turns the whole screen black, making it difficult to advance. You can wait for it to leave the screen, or blast it away with the Magnet Missile, as it will go right to the target. Only appears in Shadow Man's level and Skull Castle stage 3.
  • Parasyu - A parachuting robot that usually appears in areas with bottomless pits. If possible, avoid them and just keep moving so they can't hit you and knock you to your death.
  • Walking Bomb - A grenade with legs. Easily destroyed with a single shot, but make sure you destroy them from far away, you can be harmed by the explosion when you take him out.
Spark Man's stage(s):
  • Electric Gabyoall - A set of robots that emits an electrical current, which is alternately on/off. You need to rush through while the current is off. Can't be destroyed.
  • Junk Block - A block of junk that blocks your path. Destroy it and move on, but you have to be quick, as new ones are usually falling from chutes above.
  • Elec'n - A flying robot which resembles an electrical prong. Falls from chutes in Spark Man's Stage (as well as the revisited version) and emits electrical sparks that go in multiple directions. A little tricky to dodge, but easily destroyed with one shot.
Magnet Man's stage:
  • Giant Springer - A huge slinky-like robot that fires seeking missiles. Can easily be taken out by rapid-fire techniques, though getting too close can cause him to "pop his top" and attempt to harm you. Its missiles are easily destroyed as well. Just fire rapidly and you should be fine.
  • Mag Fly - A flying magnet. It will try to pull you up, but just keep walking and you can easily break away and keep moving. They're pretty harmless, just don't deal with them while you're above or near a bottomless pit.
Hard Man's stage:
  • Chibee - A small bee that has no real attacks other than chasing Mega Man, these come from the beehives dropped by Hive Su Bee. One shot from your cannon is all it takes to destroy one, though this can be tricky, because they tend to attack in groups due to the way they are unleashed. Their name is a play on the Japanese word "chibi", which means "small", and the English word "bee".
  • Returning Monking - A monkey-like robot that hangs from the ceiling. Pretty much harmless and leaves you alone.... until you try to pass it, at which point it will attempt to chase you and stomp on you. Destroy it, and then move on. Use something like Rush Coil or a master weapon if it is too high to hit on your own: you DO NOT want one of them giving chase.
  • Hive Su Bee - A giant bee that drops beehives, unleashing Chibees that can chase Mega Man. As he is at the top of the screen you won't normally be able to attack him. Instead, just ignore him, focus on getting rid of the Chibees, and move on. Only found in Hard Man's stage, and the second stage of Skull Castle.
  • Wanaaan - A claw that comes out from the ground on specific kinds of boxes found in certain levels. Can't be destroyed. Just slide past the tops of these blocks and you should dodge them all right.
Gemini Man's stage(s):
  • Bomber Pepe - A penguin that attacks with explosive eggs. Yet another enemy that is easily destroyed with rapid fire, and shouldn't give you much trouble.
  • Gyoraibo - A fish that shoots missiles above to any unfortunate travelers on above-water platforms. Easily destroyed with one hit. I suggest using the Rush Marine and hitting them where they live, rather than traversing the platforms.
  • Nitron - Weird flying cyclopic robots found only in Gemini Man's level (original and revisited versions). Easily destroyed with a single shot, however they attempt to dive on you, and drop fountains of fire that block your path. Their swooping can knock you down a pit if you're not careful.
  • Penpen Maker - A giant penguin found only in Gemini Man's stage that shoots out smaller, fast forward-moving penguins. Fire the crank on its head rapidly to take it out, they usually don't give too much trouble.
  • Penpen - Produced from the Penpen Maker. One shot takes them out, but the Makers usually produce a lot of them, very fast, so you have to stay on your feet and alert.
  • Pole - An egg that produces a small, tadpole-looking creature when shot. Easily destroyed with a single shot, and you generally have to destroy lots of them since their eggs block the path through the level. Found only in the Gemini Man stage.
Needle Man's stage(s):
  • Cannon - A shielded cannon that fires exploding balls a short distance. Not very tough to beat, but the cannon is only vulnerable while firing, making it tough to hit at the precise moment while dodging its projectiles.
  • Hari Harry - A porcupine-like robot that shoots spikes, and rolls around trying to hit you. It is invincible in the rolling around mode. Don't get too close, and just fire at them rapidly from a distance for best results. The spines they fire can be destroyed too.
  • Needle Press - A needle that comes down from the ceiling to try and crush you. Can not be destroyed, but they move in a predictable pattern. Learn it, get past it, and move on.
  • Giant Metall - A giant flying Hard Hat, they are only found in the Needle Doc Man stage. They hover, shooting balls at you. The balls are easily dodged, and the robot itself is easily destroyed by firing rapidly at the cross on its forehead.
  • Metall DX - A Hard Hat that can fly thanks to a helicopter blade. Just shoot it and finish it off, and move on. Otherwise, dodge it.
Later stages:
  • Junk Golem - A robot made of junk parts that heaves rocks at you. Dodge the rock through and the fire until it is destroyed. They only appear in Skull Castle Stage 4.
