The secondary weapon is a gun that isn't as good as your primary weapon, but it can still help you get kills if you are out of ammo for your primary weapon or find yourself in a tight situation. There are two types of secondary weapons - pistols and shotguns.

As of the March 15th Combat Arms patch, shotguns are classified as primary weapons. However, as they aren't as good as other primary weapons in most situations, you should still treat them like secondaries.

Pistols

A pistol is a small, portable gun, capable of only semi-automatic fire. While all the pistols have a maximum possible rate of fire, the real rate of fire depends on how fast you can repeatedly click Mouse left click. Pistols have a fast reload and moderate damage, with the exception of the Anaconda Black.

CA M92FS.jpg

Common Name: M92

The default pistol that is free to maintain lacks in many aspects. It is the only pistol of a five-hit kill and has relatively low accuracy. However, this pistol has a larger clip size and more ammo than the other pistols. Buying a better pistol to replace this isn't very necessary, unless you are going to play a Pistol-Only game.

This special edition of the default pistol is basically the same as it in every way, except that it reloads faster.

Colt M1911 MEU

CA M1911MEU.jpg

Common Name: MEU

The Colt MEU is the strongest "standard" pistol. To compensate for the strong three-hit kill, the MEU fires very slowly and has high recoil every shot. Along with high accuracy, this is a good all-around pistol. It costs a relatively great amount of GP, though, and doesn't come with a lot of ammo.

CA USP.jpg

Common Name: USP

The USP is a very accurate pistol, but weaker and faster than the MEU. The USP borders around three to four shots to kill depending on the enemy's armor. The USP has the highest recoil of any pistol besides the Anaconda Black. The USP excels at long range due to its accuracy and close range due to the power.

CA USP-Tactical.jpg

Common Name: USP Tactical

A Supply Case upgrade on the normal USP, this version has green camo and a built-in silencer. Other than that, it is no different than the USP. Getting the USP Tactical is mostly a by-product of not getting what you wanted from a Supply Case, because you could just buy a USP and attach a silencer to get the same thing.

CA G23.jpg

Common Name: G23

Specializing in a balance of stats and very low recoil, the G23 isn't as accurate as the USP or MEU. It has the fastest fire rate with the exception of the K5. The G23 is often a satisfactory choice to replace the default M92 with, considering that it doesn't cost a lot. You also get a 15-round clip.

CA G23SE.jpg

Common Name: G23 SE

A special edition G23, this gun is absolutely no different besides the fact that it can be drawn faster. Along with its high rank requirement, and the fact that a draw speed improvement isn't worth 100 extra GP, not a lot of people have this pistol.

CA G18.jpg

Common Name: G18

One of the most unique pistols in the game, this one is actually capable of selective fire between burst and semi-auto firing modes. It fires slightly faster and has slightly more recoil than the G23. Otherwise, this pistol is exactly the same as the G23. The burst ability alone gives this pistol a very hefty price.

Daewoo K5

CA K5.jpg

Common Name: K5

The K5 is the fastest firing pistol, and it sacrifices damage to do just that. It is still stronger than the default M92, however. With additional low recoil, the K5 is the pistol that you can "spray" with the best. It has an intermediate clip size.

Anaconda Black

Damage 65
Accuracy 84

Recoil U-S-E 25-0-0
Crosshair 4-5
Ammo 6/12

CA Anaconda.jpg

Common Name: Anaconda

This beast of a gun, although classified as a "pistol", should be given a category of its own because it is completely unlike a pistol. The Anaconda Black is a revolver capable of a two-shot kill, and lacks speed to compensate. Even though the recoil is huge, the firing rate is so slow that the recoil will have settled by the time you can take another shot. The Anaconda Black also seems to be unpredictably inaccurate.

The Anaconda Black can not be fitted with a silencer or a magazine mod. It is allowed in Pistol-Only games because of its official classification as a pistol.

Desert Eagle

Crosshair 4-5
Ammo 7/7

CA deagle.jpg

Common Name: Deagle

Another powerful pistol, the Desert Eagle is the most powerful weapon classified as a pistol, capable of two-shot kills. However, the Desert Eagle is horribly inaccurate compared to even the Anaconda Black, has very high recoil per shot, and also has deplorable rate of fire. An interesting aspect of the Desert Eagle is its automatic shooting capability. By pressing and holding down the left mouse button, the recoil goes straight up and the gun fires at a faster rate.

The Desert Eagle has the unusual and unique capability to deal much more damage when shooting enemy's backs, often a one-shot kill. For Desert Eagle wielders, the best situation is one in which the target is running away.

Shotguns

Shotguns are large, semi-automatic guns that are very powerful damage-wise, but must be used at a close range for full potential. The damage that shotguns do decreases dramatically with range. Therefore, when using a shotgun, you should always get up close to your enemies before shooting. In small maps like Junk Flea, your enemies will almost always be in your face, making shotguns very useful.

Shotguns deal massive damage because when you fire off one "shot", that shot is actually a bundle of five bullets. The farther you are from the target of impact, the more the five bullets will spread. Therefore, shotguns don't require absolutely precise aim to deal damage.

All shotguns are incompatible with scope and suppressor modifications.

Mossberg M590 Military

CA M590.jpg

Common Name: M590

This one-hit kill shotgun is very popular among the shotgun enthusiasts, simply due to its power. This shotgun is pump-action, meaning that by the time you can fire off another shot, the recoil will have already settled. This makes the high recoil somewhat meaningless, although it can still be disorienting.

The reload speed of a shotgun depends on how many shots need to be inserted. The speed of reloading from 0 bullets is seven times slower than reloading from 6 bullets.

Mossberg M590 Military CQB (Supply Case)

Price 3500/case

CA M590CQB.jpg

Common Name: M590 CQB

This is an upgrade on the regular M590 by adding a fixed stock. The M590 CQB has significantly less recoil, making it easier to aim and handle. It is also supposedly more powerful, but since the regular M590 is already a one-hit kill, this isn't really verifiable.

The M590 CQB can be obtained from Supply Cases, the chance that you will get one is fairly high and players deem that trying to get one is worth the money.

Remington R870

CA R870.jpg

Common Name: R870

The Remington shotgun is not the most popular choice because it takes two shots to kill and still requires pump-action, but there are some advantages. The R870 features significantly less recoil than the M590. It also has a huge bullet spread between the five bullets, so that you don't have to get as close to your enemies and have a much higher chance of getting lucky headshots.

The R870 is the cheapest shotgun, good if you are low on money. It seems to reload unbearably slow, so don't reload out in the open.

CA SPAS-12.jpg

Common Name: SPAS

This semi-automatic shotgun has a very fast firing rate (for a shotgun) for quick and easy two-hit kills. Far more accurate than the other shotguns, the SPAS is a good all-around choice. Because there is no pump action needed, the SPAS is affected by its own recoil.

An upgraded SPAS12 with a fixed stock, this shotgun is no different besides a recoil reduction.

Double Barrel

CA DB.jpg

Common Name: DB

The Double Barrel is a strong shotgun capable of one-hit kills. The recoil is not as massive as that of the M590. Major drawbacks of the Double Barrel, however, are that it has a clip size of just two and a ridiculously huge crosshair. A magazine mod can not be attached. The Double Barrel's reload speed is constant and does not vary.

A unique ability of the Double Barrel is that you can press the right mouse button to discharge both shots at once. This releases all bullets in your clip (1 or 2) and guarantees a one-hit kill at more range. However, because the single shot can already deal great damage, the double shot doesn't need to be used often.

CA Saiga20k.jpg

Common Name: 20K

The Saiga 20K is a semi-automatic shotgun, similar in performance to the SPAS12, but looking more like an assault rifle, because it uses a ammo clip instead of the single bullet loading of the other shotguns. The Saiga 20K has a high rank requirement and is better than the SPAS-12 in most aspects, with no drawbacks to compensate besides its abnormally high price.
