Controls
- Control Stick: move character/jump
- How far and fast you tilt the control stick affects how fast you will move.
- Tapping the Control Stick up will make you jump.
- Tilting the Control Stick down will make you duck or drop through a floating platform.
- A Button: standard attack
- Pressing A repeatedly will do a combo.
- Rapidly pressing A will do a side attack quickly and repeatedly that is hard to escape.
- A Button + Control Stick: strong attack
- This will create stronger attacks rather then attacking with just the A Button.
- Tilting the Control Stick up, down, left, or right will make your character attack in that direction.
- Tapping the control stick quickly up, down, left or right will make you do a strong smash attack in that direction.
- Doing a standard strong attack in the air will do an arial attack that can be directed in four ways.
- B button (+ Control Stick): special attack
- Pressing the B button will do a different special attack for every character.
- Pressing the B button and the control stick up, down, or to either side will also do a different special attack for ever character.
- See the individual character for specific special attacks
- X and Y Buttons: jump
- jumping with the X and Y buttons is usually easier then using the control stick
- L and R Buttons: Dodge/Shield
- In a still position on the ground you can bring up your shield which will sometimes stop attacks but if used to long, it will break.
- If in the air you can do in air dodge to dodge a projectile coming your way.
- Tilting the control stick while pressing L/R will make your character roll to get around opponents and dodge attacks.
- Z Button: Grab
- Grab your opponent when you are close by pressing Z, then hit up, down, left, or right to through him.
- C-Stick: Smash Attacks
- The C-Stick can also be used to do smash attacks but is usually considered to be a cheat and is mostly only used by beginners.
- D-Pad: Taunt
Characters
With a total of twenty-five nintendo-based characters(including the hidden ones), there can be some confusion as to which is the best character for you and what each one can do. That is what this section is about. Every character in the game will be discussed in detail, including an overall view, cons and pros, unique moves, and more. Hopefully any questions you have right now about the characters will be answered right here. The characters will be split by starting characters and hidden characters. The format of each characters description will lay out like this.
summary including background information and an overall view of the character
main games the character has been in as a lead rule(along with dates, hopefully)
B special moves for the character

Mario
Mario has been at the forefront of Nintendo for a long time. He always has a problem with keeping the princess safe from Bowser. Mario first starred as "jump man" in Donkey Kong where he simply had to go through three stages and save the princess in each. Since then Donkey Kong has gone his own way and Bowser took his place in Super Mario Bros. for the original NES. Mario set the standard for 2d platformers, until, of course, Super Mario 64 where he set the standard for 3d platformers. Now he stands to fight against all the other big Nintendo stars and doesn't do to bad really.
