Combat Arms/Submachine guns

From StrategyWiki, the video game walkthrough and strategy guide wiki

A submachine gun, often abbreviated to SMG, is basically an assault rifle that sacrifices power and accuracy for a high firing rate and portability. Submachine guns also tend to have less recoil, a smaller range of crosshair size, and a fast reload. A variety of submachine guns are available for your spraying needs.

The recoil pattern of submachine guns differs from that of assault rifles. Submachine guns all have barely noticeable everywhere recoil, but instead, they kick straight up, and then start rocking side to side after a while.

CA K1A.jpg

Like the UMP, the K1A is a submachine gun that also possesses traits of an assault rifle. The K1A is the most accurate out of all the submachine guns, but has relatively hefty recoil to counter this. It has high damage capable of a four-shot kill, but a slow spray rate. Therefore the K1A can be attached with a scope and used for mid-range combat in addition to close-range spraying.

The recoil of the K1A seems to settle much slower than other guns, making scope-spraying quite cumbersome.

CA K7.jpg

The K7 is a great example of a submachine gun built for spraying. The very high rate of fire combined with high portability allows you to get in your opponent's face and fill them up with lead before they can even react. This is counterbalanced by a five-shot kill.

What people find difficult about the K7 is its strange recoil. There is absolutely no everywhere recoil. When you start firing, the K7 will immediately kick straight up, and then afterwards rock heavily side-to-side. When the side-recoil starts, you should just let go of your mouse button and then spray again.

The K7 has a suppressor built into its design that can not be removed, which is why it costs just a bit more. You can still add a scope or magazine mod, though.

CA MP5A4.jpg

This balanced and fairly low recoil submachine gun is fairly powerful. Still strong enough for a four-shot kill, the MP5A4 has easily controllable recoil and a decent spraying rate. A scope can be attached to this weapon, making mid-range shots still possible. All the other mods can be attached too, although a suppressor doesn't make much difference.

The MP5 RAS is the same, except that the recoil is dramatically reduced, and it is slightly more portable. Just Also, the MP5 RAS fires with a slightly different noise. The MP5 RAS can accommodate all modifications and can burst-fire also.

CA UMP.jpg

This submachine gun is the most similar to an assault rifle. It has high damage for a four-shot kill and a high portability, and this is counterbalanced by relatively slow firing and inaccuracy. This gun is great for tapping kills and has a moderate range.

The UMP can be fitted with all the modifications. The gunshot sound of the UMP is a distinctive popping sound (although not as loud as the FAMAS).

CA UZI.jpg

The UZI is basically the "fastest" gun. Featuring the fastest firing rate out of any weapon in Combat Arms, it deals the weakest damage per shot for a five-shot kill. On a person wearing protective gear like a Heavy Vest, it will be a six-shot kill. The UZI also has the highest portability, so you will run very fast with it, and it is also has the fastest reload.

The recoil of the UZI goes straight up, and then side-to-side. This gun costs less than the others because you can't put a scope on it. It can still be fitted with a suppressor (reduces damage to a six-shot kill) and a magazine mod.

CA MAC-10.jpg

The MAC-10 is just like an UZI, but with stronger damage and recoil. It is quite inaccurate compared to the other guns, but makes up for it with a fire rate just about as fast as the UZI's. The recoil pattern is different - the MAC-10's goes a bit more everywhere.

The MAC-10 is explicitly for close combat, a sure way to kill somebody with it is to get right up in their face. The recoil and inaccuracy will almost ensure that you lose every fight at medium-range and farther. The MAC-10 can be fitted with all mods.

CA P90.jpg

This very strange looking gun is quite good, but lacking in several areas. The damage is a good four-hit kill, and the accuracy and portability are balanced and rather high compared to some other submachine guns. It also reloads very quickly. The P90 comes with a built-in reflex scope (with red dot), which is very small, barely gives any magnification, but negates the recoil when you are using the scope.

The P90 is somewhat low on recoil, but when the side-to-side rocking begins, make sure to let go of the mouse button and fire again.

The main complaint about the P90 is that it doesn't have enough ammo. Although it has an extremely large clip size, there is only 100 pieces of ammo total, while the other guns have at least 120. You are also unable to attach a magazine modification. This gun's uniqueness and built-in scope causes it to cost you more GP than do the other guns.

The PP19 is the most powerful submachine gun in terms of damage. In fact, it borders between a three hit kill and a four hit kill, closely approximating G36E damage. Despite having the largest magazine in any gun other than machine guns, it still has a blazing fast reload. The main drawback is its very high recoil (for an SMG) to balance this out. However, as the iTech Reflex Scope is unlocked alongside the PP-19, this can be used to "reduce" the recoil. The PP19 is also expensive and has a high rank requirement. A magazine modification can no longer be attatched, as an Extended Mag II would boost the magazine size to an absolutely ridiculous 80 rounds, while still allowing for a relatively fast reload.
